查廣東話，一鍵真人發聲——「粵語審音配詞字庫」；翻譯推敲——「林語堂當代漢英詞典」；中學老師圖解字源，連甲骨文也變得親近易明——「漢語多功能字庫」。

這一系列廣受各界歡迎的線上語言工具，皆出自中大人文電算研究中心。特別是「漢語多功能字庫」，其累計檢索已逾2.82億次，多年以來廣泛服務教學、研究及專業領域，備受學界肯定。2021年，關子尹教授以「漢語多功能字庫」結合其哲學語言研究，獲教資會研究評審(RAE) 最高4*評級，翌年更入選為大學轉化成果重點展示項目，體現學術如何走出象牙塔，回應時代需要。

【CUbicZine】Chinese Character Database records 280M Searches — Prof. Kwan Tze-wan Reconfiguring the Essence of Chinese Script Through Philosophy, Building a Cross-Disciplinary Knowledge Infrastructure for the Humanities

With one click, users can hear authentic Cantonese pronunciation through the Cantonese Pronunciation and Lexical Database; refine translations with the Lin Yutang Chinese-English Dictionary of Modern Usage; and explore character origins through the Multi-function Chinese Character Database—where even oracle bone script becomes accessible.

These widely adopted digital language resources were all developed by the Research Centre for Humanities Computing at CUHK. Among them, the Multi-function Chinese Character Database stands out, with over 280 million searches, supporting education, academia, and professional applications. In 2021, Professor Kwan Tze-wan’s integration of this tool with his scholarly work in philosophy of language was awarded the highest rating of 4* (world leading) in the Research Assessment Exercise (RAE), and was later selected as a featured knowledge transfer project— demonstrating the translation of scholarly research into societal impact to meet contemporary needs.

【 】機電創科日 E&M I&T Day 2026 🛠️💡

由機電工程署（機電署）主辦、香港科技園公司協辦的「機電創科日2026」於2026年6月9日在香港科學園舉行。

本屆活動以「AI＋建造業」為主題，為業界提供互動交流平台，分享人工智能在建造業的應用、最新發展及創新成果。活動匯聚來自香港及內地共26個參展機構，吸引逾400名來自創新科技、機電業界、大學及公共機構等不同界別的參加者，涵蓋粵港澳大灣區，參與研討會及參觀展覽。此外，活動的網上直播亦錄得超過100,000次觀看。

The E&M I&T Day 2026, organised by the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department (EMSD) and co-organised by the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation, was held on 9 June 2026 at the Hong Kong Science Park.

With the theme "AI+ Construction", E&M I&T Day 2026 provided an interactive exchange platform for the trade to share the application, latest developments and innovative achievements of AI in the construction industry.

The event brought together 26 exhibitors from Hong Kong and the Mainland, attracting over 400 participants from sectors including innovation and technology, the electrical and mechanical trade, universities and public organisations across the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area to attend seminars and visit the exhibition. Moreover, online live streaming recorded over 100 000 views.

第十二屆香港大學生創新及創業大賽頒獎典禮於2026年5月30日在香港會議展覽中心圓滿舉行。今年共有來自30間大專院校的753個項目參賽，創下新紀錄。

中大學生在今屆賽事成績驕人，於創新及創業組別共奪得19個獎項。其中包括在「創新項目」獲1個一等獎、4個二等獎、4個三等獎及5個優異獎，以及在「創業項目」獲2個二等獎、2個三等獎及1個優異獎。中大更與另一院校並列，成為今屆全港獲獎最多的大學之一。

CUHK wins 19 awards at the 12th Hong Kong University Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition 🏆

The award ceremony for 12th Hong Kong University Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition was successfully held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on 30 May 2026. This year, a record number of 753 projects from 30 tertiary institutions participated in the competition.

Students from The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) achieved remarkable success at the competition, securing a total of 19 awards across both innovation and entrepreneurship categories. The awards include: one first prize, four second prizes, four third prizes and five merits in the innovation category, and two second prizes, two third prizes and one merit in the entrepreneurship category. Notably, CUHK emerged as one of the top two universities securing the highest number of awards in this competition.

香港中文大學知識轉移事務處率領六個創新科研項目，參與5月29日於珠海高新區舉行的「廣東省科技成果對接會—港珠澳高校科技成果轉化促進大賽」。是次大賽匯聚港珠澳三地21所高校、208個優質項目，同場競技、深度對接，充分展現大灣區協同創新的蓬勃動能。

本校六個參賽項目涵蓋智能製造、新一代信息技術及生命健康等前沿領域。其中兩個項目憑藉成熟技術與清晰產業化方案脫穎而出, 分別榮獲二等獎及三等獎殊榮，成果備受評審及業界肯定，彰顯港中大科研實力與轉化潛能。

活動期間，珠海市領導、政府部門代表、投資機構及產業龍頭企業親臨現場交流指導，多方就技術落地、場景應用及資本對接進行深入洽談。大賽設置「科技成果超市」及專場對接環節，有效促成高校、政府與產業資本之間的精準連結，顯著提升產學研協同效率。

【Inno-Ambassador Innovation Observatory】 Not Just a Café — The Social Mission and Campus Presence of inno330 Cafe

's new column, Innovation Observatory, continues to be written by students, turning the spotlight on CUHK’s InnoPort. Located on the ground floor, inno330 Café is designed as a “comfort corner” where students and staff can pause amid their busy lives—offering coffee and light meals as a gentle response to their physical, mental, and emotional needs.

inno330 Cafe is operated by the New Life Psychiatric Rehabilitation Association (NLPRA) and is one of its nine café outlets. The name “330” is a Cantonese homophone for “body, mind, and spirit,” symbolizing a soft and accessible way to raise awareness of mental health.

On 22 May 2026, the second 𝙇𝙖𝙗 & 𝙇𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙜𝙚 @𝘾𝙐𝙃𝙆 networking talk was held at the UGA event hall, InnoPort. Themed “University Research. Made by Hong Kong: Chinese Medicine ‘Port’?”, the evening brought together researchers, entrepreneurs, and industry professionals to explore how Chinese medicine can evolve from academic discovery into globally competitive health solutions.

Moderated by Professor Walter Ho, Consultant to the Knowledge Transfer Office of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, the session featured Professor Kam Ming Ko, Professor in the Division of Life Science at the Hong Kong University of Science & Technology; Ms. Ming Pang, Founder and CEO of KADOSH Health & Beauty Company Limited; and Ms. Vanessa Lau, Marketing Manager, the Hong Kong Institute of Biotechnology Limited (HKIB). Together, they offered complementary perspectives spanning scientific research, entrepreneurship, and industrial translation—unpacking how innovation in Chinese medicine can move from lab to market within Hong Kong’s growing ecosystem.

The evening began with informal networking over light refreshments, as participants from diverse backgrounds—including faculty members, students, alumni, and industry partners—gathered in a relaxed, open setting.

Organized by CUHK InnoPort, 𝙇𝙖𝙗 & 𝙇𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙜𝙚 @𝘾𝙐𝙃𝙆 aims to transform research into dialogue—creating a welcoming environment where knowledge is shared across disciplines and meaningful connections can take root across academia, industry, and society.
