Smart Go Academy, a Go School and Coding School, was founded in 2004, with the aim to educate through Go. Our students excel in academic results and conduct.
We are known for our quality teaching, which puts an equal emphasis on skill training and character building. For over a decade, we have nurtured over a hundred champions in various tournaments. Many of them managed to enroll in universities in Hong Kong, some of them were even admitted in Cambridge, Oxford and UC Berkeley.

⚠️Special arrangement during COVID-19 pandemic😷
Due to the current situation and government policy, we give face-to-face and online lessons simultaneously. Students are free to choose which one to attend. 🧑🏫💻✅
Either way, our system allows all students to participate actively in class, and online students can play with face-to-face students through our system. 🌐

🇹🇭Rewarding experience in the 2019 Mama Cup GO International Championship🎖
2019 Mama Cup GO International Championship was held in Bangkok, Thailand. This year’s participants were from places all around the world, including the US, Australia, New Zealand, Romania, Korea, Japan, Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan.
🥈Our students being younger than other participants on average, were on par with the others. They managed to win a group first-runner up in the division of 13x13 board.
🥉Fung Yet, 7 years old, finished his individual tournament as the second-runner up with a result of 5 wins and 1 loss. Four of our students returned home with medals, certificates and cash awards. Such a fruitful trip!

Victorious in The 7th Asia Peace Child Game-of-Go Convention🏆
The 7th Asia Peace Child Game-of-Go Convention was held in ShanTou Haojiang, China from 20 to 22 August 2018. Over 100 young players coming from China, Japan, Korea and Hong Kong etc. competed in different divisions according to their rankings.

💡We believe that developing an appropriate attitude towards learning and thinking is far more important than gaining the knowledge itself. And that should start from the beginning of the journey of Go learning. Therefore, we insist that beginner classes are taught by the most experienced teachers.
💡We encourage students to participate in lessons actively because we believe that the thinking process is the key to learning. Students are constantly being given exercises and challenges in class, so as to enhance their learning through trial and error.

💭Want to challenge yourself?🔥
Go is easy to learn, but hard to master (most likely impossible for humans)🤖. The game is so challenging that for a long time, even computer programmes were no match for a human Pro player, until Google Deepmind developed AlphaGo with the techniques of deep learning and Monte Carlo tree search. AlphaGo shook the world of Go players by winning 5:0 against European Champion Fan Hui and 4:1 against world top player Sedol Lee in 2015 and 2016. Ever since, countries developed their own AI, which turned out to be great for training.

▪️ Playing Go involves memorisation, logical reasoning, pattern recognition and imagination, which significantly activate your right brain. 🧩

Go is a very good time killer. The time it takes to finish a game is highly flexible. You can adjust the time limit to seconds per move, finish the game in minutes, or you can take your time to finish it in days. ⚡️❓😴❓

Why is the name "Go"? ⚫⚪☯
👉 Go is the romanised Japanese name 碁, (and "igo" for 囲碁 as a “full name”). That Go is the most commonly known name is probably because the Japan Go Association played a major part in promoting Go outside East Asia, even though the game was actually invented thousands years ago in ancient China.
👉 Go is also known as Baduk in Korea (바둑), Weiqi (traditional: 圍棋 /simplified: 围棋) in Mandarin. In Cantonese it is pronounced as Wai Kei(圍棋).
