This is our first video artwork production for the 17th Venice Biennale International Architecture Exhibition. Due to the pandemic, the exhibition in Venice has been postponed a few times. Work Title: “In/compatible City” by Knock Knock Ideas

Let’s walk into this paralleled space revealing the alterations we made to our city. By stitching different time fragments of Wanchai, we’d like to ask ourselves, “How to balance between need and desire?”

讓我們走進這平行時空，以獨有的節奏感受灣仔的改變。希望大家在這兩分鐘的時光旅行，一同反思：「面對未來的各種挑戰，我們如何平衡需要與慾望？」

「城語」，是其中一個利用早前和CoLAB共同創作的藝術裝置做表演場所的藝術表演。藝術表演單位巧妙地利用銅管自製樂器以回應背後的巨型金屬通架。部份旋律更是來自敲擊通架本身，將它化成樂器之一，和整個場所產生美妙共嗚。

2021 - 由主教山開始

2020年，大家都在變化中渡過，要追上變化的節奏已很不容易。本想趁年尾稍作休息，好好計劃一下來年發展，卻被全城熱議的保育新聞吸引，讓我們非常振奮。振奮在於不同背景的香港人都很熱心，從很多角度將這滄海遺珠背後的故事一一呈現，這種眾志成城的場面實在令人動容。

雖然下一步它的命運如何還有很多未知之數，但作為這個福地的一份子，我們選擇透過動手做設計，讓自己和這歷史建築進行一場對話。亦希望提供一個場景，讓大家想像保育這蓄水庫的可能性。然而，這只是一個基於網上資料所進行的設計練習，真正的保育工作是需要由專家作大量考證、歸納出它的特徵和意義，設計師才有理據作改任何改動。我們亦鼓勵在過程中加入社區參與的部份，提高活化後的社區功能。

從不同的資料來源，我們歸納了以下幾點：

1. 已破壞的部份，一方面難以復修，卻洽巧形成了一個入口，亦是一個天井，讓自然光線及空氣透進配水庫，減省了不必要的照明和通風系統。
2. 從圖則中得知，水庫內的圓形混凝土牆及圍邊的填土是50年代的後期工程，所以在相中會見到有部份拱形結構被埋入泥土中。設計中建議將部份混凝土牆拆卸，重現百年前的模樣。餘下的混凝土牆則可作為通道間隔，而間隔內部是關於蓄水庫的歷史展示區。
3. 從相中見到有拱形天花都有不少裂痕，估計部份有需要拆卸，以免危險。設計中建議將因結構問題而拆卸的部份換成拱形通花結構，進一步增加光線和空氣流通，亦讓上面的草地使用者從其他角度欣賞這個帶有古典美的建築。
4. 希望盡量提供更多公共空間，由草地到蓄水庫都歡迎任何使用者自由享用，還原這個清幽小山頂的社區功能，同時增添了這充滿歷史感的有蓋公共空間。

無論如何，這個小練習就是我們最享受的年尾活動，亦確立了來年的方向：繼續好好利用我們的知識和經驗，完成更多有意義，惠及大眾的項目。

今年實在有太多挑戰，抱歉未能好好實踐訂好的計劃，只能以防守狀態處理好手頭上的工作，說好的設計教育和產品開發都被迫暫時放低。然而，這不代表我們的熱誠有任何減退，挑戰只會令我們更加強壯，繼續向夢想進發。無論順境逆境，Knock Knock Ideas 及 1/100 Academy 建築學院的出現都是希望以設計和專業知識服務大眾，和大家一起寫好歷史的每一頁。

今年希望為自己及身邊朋友打氣，特別設計了這款手提電話專用燈罩，讓大家隨時隨地「憑一口氣，點一盞燈」。燈罩外是光影圖案，燈罩內是迷你展覽，給大家一刻放空，和自己好好對話。

祝大家有個平安溫暖的聖誕節。

經過各單位努力，終於實現了由不同藝團，利用這件作品虛實交錯的特性，互動而產生的表演。可惜因疫情關係，只能以錄像方式將過程記錄，稍後透過其他平台讓公眾欣賞。

這個項目，除了將油街實現的現址與興建中的新展館在意義上連結起來，亦讓我們和其他合作單位建立了默契，一起為這個「鐵棚」注入生命。

順便介紹返，Knock Knock Ideas 建築事務所的中文名字叫「同心設計」，意思正正是希望在創作路上與同路人同心協力，做個負責任的地球人。

〖油街實現・一山一水一島嶼〗

時間過得太快，轉眼這件作品已完成了4個月。可惜因疫情關係，油街實現經歷了不短的閉館時間，現在也只能有限度開放。昨天再有機會到作品前面作簡單解說，再次提醒自己創作的源起。

老師教落，每個設計項目起手第一件事就是到現場考察，感受那裡的環境：風、陽光、景觀、以至人的活動與流向。今次亦不例外，當初到現場考察的時候，發現有不少公眾人仕在草坪旁邊，夾在第一和第二期中間的長形空間流連，在樹蔭下享用午餐、睇書、玩樂器，十分聚人。於是，創作的重點由只是美化地盤圍板，變成製造一個「虛擬」空間，透過金屬棚架的線條，織出一個巨盒，更清晰地展示這個空間的存在，同時變身成為一個臨時藝術表演場所。期待很快有表演項目讓公眾欣賞。

在此特別鳴謝CoLAB的 Eddy Yu，Hung Lam，Sammuel，Carrie，沒有他們就沒有這個合作機會，讓我們感受到共同創作的樂趣。當然亦感謝油街實現 Oil Street Art Space的信任和支持，在這艱難的時候，仍沒有想過放棄，共同進退。還有十分快靚正的承建商HK Scafform。還還有Vince Yiu的無私付出。

儘管未能盡如人意，但能參與其中，所見所學，已畢生受用。

A Surprise Gift from Taiwan -
Golden Pin Award 2020

We are proud to announce that our project, “Dream A Round, Play A Round” has been selected as one of the Golden Pin Award 2020 Design Mark recipients in the Spatial Design Category.

Being recognised is of course a great honour. But the most tasteful part is the process where we’ve got strong supports from the following partners:

PMQ 元創方 a very supportive organiser and provided us the attractive venue

Create & Yay for curating this event with infinite passion and creativity

綠腳丫 for connecting us with local schools such that our hula loops and floor mats can have a 2nd life

The happy faces that we saw in the “temporary playground” are extremely rewarding. To commemorate this little achievement, we have prepared a making-of video clip and would like to share with you all.

十分榮幸，我們的作品「圓圓・日夢」獲得 #2020台灣金點設計獎標章（空間設計）。

獲得獎項，當然開心。但讓我們最興奮的，是遇到一班熱血又有心的合作單位。包括：

主辦機構以及提供場地的 PMQ 元創坊

一直和我們並肩而行，鬼馬多計的 Create and Yay

及幫助我們找到有心學校收留裝置還原後的呼拉圈及軟墊的 綠腳丫

回想當時的情景，由製作到見到大小朋友在這個”臨時遊樂場”上盡情跑跳，至今仍津津樂道。

作為給自己的一份小記念，我們製作了未曾發表過的 making-of 短片，和大家分享。

T Puzzle - graphic series sneak peek

As the first series, we have invited our guest residents, 4 beautiful cats adopted earlier this year, to be our models. Tests were done to find the right tone and style in depicting their lives, with a little surreal substances.

This series is not just about a few cat pictures, but our love stories to these little masters.

It’s been a very busy week and here comes the long awaited weekend. Let’s take a deep breathe with a moment of solitude, forget about those trivial stuff and stress.

The process of tracing the grain of oak made me extremely focus. And I have to tell you all that by completing the puzzle set, it’s so satisfying!
