Two Years in the Making: Munsang College Centenary Original English Musical PHILO•SOPHIA Concludes in Standing Ovation!

After two years of meticulous preparation, Munsang College’s Centenary Original English Musical, PHILO•SOPHIA, was grandly staged on May 30 and 31 at the Grand Theatre of the Xiqu Centre, West Kowloon. The spectacular production finally drew to a triumphant close amidst thunderous applause from the audience!

This cinematic and theatrical feast spanned across a century, seamlessly weaving together the past, present, and future. It not only looked back on our Alma Mater’s founding vision of "Light and Life" and the passing of the Munsang spirit from generation to generation, but also ventured a century into the future to explore the true meaning of education in the era of AI.

A Packed House & Spellbinding Performances
Both days of the performance saw a completely packed house, filling the Grand Theatre with an atmosphere of passion and warmth. On stage, the cast—comprising talented performers from our Kindergarten, Primary School, Secondary School, Munsang College (Hong Kong Island), and the Alumni Association Choir—gave their absolute all.

With fluent English, angelic vocals, and deeply expressive choreography, they perfectly portrayed the fantastical journey of "Philo" and "Sophia" in search of happiness and the true meaning of education. Their performance touched the hearts of everyone in the audience, showcasing the excellence and brilliant heritage of Munsangians across the century.

【🎉 Double Blessings for our Centenary! Our Students Win 3rd Place Overall at ROBOFEST World Championship】

As Munsang College celebrates our Centenary, our Robotics Team has brought home exhilarating news for the school and Hong Kong! Three of our students represented Hong Kong at the "ROBOFEST Robotics Championship - USA International 2026." Competing against elites from over 20 countries and regions—including the USA, Canada, Mexico, Ghana, Greece, Jordan, Egypt, China, Taiwan, South Korea, and Macau—they ultimately won 3rd Place in the Senior Game - Building Bridge! 🥉

🧩 *A Tough Battle Testing Coding Skills and Psychological Grit*

The difficulty level of this competition was extremely high. The "End Mission" was announced just 30 minutes before the match, requiring students to modify the codes to fulfil the tasks. This was not only a contest of programming skills but also the ultimate test of the students' adaptability under pressure.

Although they fell behind in the first round due to a minor slip-up (scoring only 53 points), the students were not discouraged. In the second round, they quickly adjusted their mindset, adapted flexibly, and ultimately *completed the match with a perfect score of 100 points*! This successful comeback pushed them up to third place overall, perfectly demonstrating the unyielding spirit of Munsang students! 💪

To make this achievement even sweeter, each of our team members has been awarded a scholarship certificate to Lawrence Technological University (LTU) in the USA! They will receive an annual scholarship of $14,000, totaling $56,000 over 4 years
, recognizing their outstanding global performance and opening up brilliant future academic pathways! 🎓*✈️*

This marks the first time that Munsang College students have won an award in this international tournament, leaving a brilliant and significant mark on our Centenary celebration. Behind this outstanding achievement, we truly rely on and appreciate the full support and companionship of our School Supervisor, School Directors, Principal, and the Parent-Teacher Association.

Munsang College's "Culture x Innovation" Inter-School STEAM Competition

With creativity and technology coming together, our school hosted its "Culture x Innovation" Inter-School STEAM Competition on 25 April 2026 at YYS Hall — a highlight of our Centenary celebration.
Secondary school students from across Hong Kong were invited to design interactive game booths under the theme "Reimagine Hong Kong's Cultural Heritage for the Next Generation". Over 10 schools advanced to the final round, bringing to life 15 imaginative booths.
The heart of the event was the exhibition session, where around 500 young learners and parents from Munsang College Kindergarten visited the booths. Our kindergarten students explored hands-on STEAM activities, learning about dragon boat racing, traditional lantern festivals, and local cuisine — while engaging with AR, VR, and AI technologies.
The atmosphere was filled with laughter, curiosity, and a shared appreciation for Hong Kong's cultural identity. Munsang College extends its heartfelt thanks to all participating schools, the judging panel, and especially our kindergarten families for making this event a memorable success.

With a big group photo captured during practice last Saturday, we’re excited to share our progress as we prepare for our centenary celebration musical production, Philo ‧ Sophia, in late May. Now, the rehearsal is in full swing—there are over 250 actors from MSC, MSCPS, MSCKG, and IMSC, and around 300 student and teacher helpers supporting every detail behind the scenes.

We’re all putting in a lot of effort to present a powerful show that hopes to challenge the meaning of education and spark meaningful conversations about the future of education with our audience.

Centenary Celebration Forum Series 3

We were deeply honoured to welcome Professor Dennis Lo Yuk Ming, Vice-Chancellor and President of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, as the guest speaker for the third installment of our Centenary Celebration Forum Series, with the theme “Dreams in Motion: The Power of Scientific Inquiry and the Path to Tomorrow”.

As a pioneer and leader in the field of liquid biopsy—widely recognized as the "Father of Non-invasive Prenatal Testing (NIPT)"—Professor Lo delivered an inspiring talk aimed at sparking our students' passion for research and encouraging them to pursue their professional dreams with persistence.

Professor Lo shared his remarkable journey of scientific exploration, tracing his path from his days as a medical student at the University of Oxford to becoming a world-renowned scholar and researcher. He also detailed the expansion of his groundbreaking work into the domain of early cancer detection.

Throughout the forum, Professor Lo utilized vivid analogies and accessible language to deconstruct complex clinical and technical challenges. He explained the rigorous thought process behind his DNA testing breakthroughs, illustrating how scientific inquiry can lead to global medical advancements that support countless expectant mothers and patients worldwide.

The forum was a resounding success, met with great enthusiasm by our students and staff. We hope Professor Lo’s insights serve as a catalyst for our future innovators as they embark on their own paths of discovery.

Munsang College’s Centenary Open Days

From 7th to 8th March, the five schools — Munsang College, Munsang College Primary School, Munsang College Kindergarten, Munsang College (Hong Kong Island) and the newly established Munsang College Nursery — came together to welcome thousands of alumni, parents, and friends. The campus was filled with laughter, pride, and beautiful memories.

The weekend began with a special Opening Ceremony officiated by Permanent Secretary for Education, Ms. CHAN Wing Shiu, May, JP, as our Guest of Honour. During the ceremony, we joyfully announced the official establishment of Munsang College Nursery — a wonderful new chapter in our journey of providing seamless, whole-person education from kindergarten to secondary.

Highlights of the weekend included:

• A fascinating book talk with Professor Kwong Chi-man, who shared his latest book on our school’s early history
• A stunning Chinese costume fashion show that brought our students’ creativity and cultural pride to life
• Inspiring alumni health talks by three outstanding graduates with medical background who shared practical advice on teenagers’ well-being

Throughout the two days, our students demonstrated their diverse talents on stage with music, dance, storytelling, and even rope-skipping performances, while families and visitors explored interactive exhibitions and games together. More than just an event, the Open Days reminded us of what Munsang truly stands for — a big, loving family that carries forward 100 years of light, care, and dreams.
