🐝 From November 7–12, 2025, national Brain Bee champions will gather virtually to compete in the International Brain Bee (IBB) World Championship — a global celebration of neuroscience, education, and connection.
🏆 Winners will be announced at Neuroscience 2025 in San Diego on November 15th, and the top five champions will earn a spot at the 2026 IBB NextGen Forum in Barcelona, an unforgettable mentorship and cultural exchange experience.
🧬 Since 1999, IBB has inspired thousands of students worldwide to explore the brain and pursue careers in neuroscience and medicine.

Prof LAU Chun Yue Geoffrey at Department of Neuroscience, City University of Hong Kong (CityU) welcomed the Finalists of the Hong Kong Brain Bee on 22 August 2025. The students were introduced the basic concepts of neural circuitry, homeostasis, piriform cortex, olfactory and feeding. Dr Esther Ngo conducted an experiment about feeding, capturing and analysing first-hand data with the students.

On August 21, 2025, seven HK Brain Bee finalists paid a visit to the CUHK School of Biomedical Sciences at the Lo Kwee-Seong Integrated Biomedical Sciences Building. Led by Prof. Ke Ya and Prof. Yung Wing-ho, the research team enlightened students on the holistic perspectives of cognitive neuroscience. In-vivo experiments on mice and rodents utilized neuroanatomical, neurophysiological, behavioural, and computational approaches to better understand the neural mechanisms that underpin the social behaviour, attention, and learning in relation to aging and mental health.

Brain Bee Finalists visited the School of Chinese Medicine of the Hong Kong Baptist University on 20 August 2025. Led by Prof Cheung King-ho, they learnt the biomedical science and translation research of TCM in neurodegenerative conditions like Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease. Besides, they visited the Dr & Mrs Hung Hin Shiu Museum of Chinese Medicine.
