🦋✨This term, our Grade 1 students leaped into their “Live and Let Live” unit, diving hands-first into the wonders of the natural world! Biology came alive right at their desks during a thrilling classroom visit from lepidopterology specialist Ms. Emily, who brought real, living butterflies for us to encounter.
It was a high-energy launchpad that sparked an instant love for science. Teacher first guided our students through animal classification—comparing insects like frogs, foxes, and spiders with butterflies. After learning how to distinguish a butterfly from a moth and understanding the proper names of eggs, larvae, and pupae, the students put their new knowledge into action through direct observation. To connect these discoveries, students sketched and wrote about what they saw in worksheets and hand-crafted brilliant 3D life-cycle models on branches, physically building out the process of metamorphosis. 🪵🐛
The absolute highlight of the session arrived when Ms. Emily brought out the live butterflies. Seeing our students so intensely concentrated and eager to learn as they carefully examined the tiny details up close was nothing short of amazing.
This hands-on journey does far more than build sharp observation skills; it shapes how our children see the world around them. By actively caring for living things today, our young learners are discovering exactly how they can step up and protect Hong Kong’s vibrant environment! 🌿🌱

🔨 Sandbox Project Launch: Building Skills from Scratch! ✨
Our Grade 4 students officially kicked off their highly anticipated Sandbox Project!
The young builders are fully immersed in the foundational steps of engineering and design under expert guidance. They are learning a vital life lesson early on: true success requires the patience to build a strong foundation first.
During the session, students discovered the practical application of math, realizing that precision is non-negotiable when measuring and marking raw wood. They also began developing an entrepreneurial mindset, learning to think like innovators who can problem-solve and adapt. There is an unmatched joy in experiencing the creative process from scratch, watching a raw idea transform from absolute zero into a tangible, physical product through their own hard work.
What truly made the day spectacular was the incredible teamwork on display. The room was buzzing with enthusiasm as students collaborated, problem-solved, and supported each other’s work every step of the way. This project perfectly exemplifies our commitment to experiential learning, showing how our students develop real-world life skills, mathematical accuracy, and strong character through practical application. 🚀🪵
Sandbox Project!

Last weekend, students from Bloom KKCA Academy travelled to Shenzhen to take part in the WeChat Mini Program Innovation Challenge Finals & Hackathon, bravely taking on a major challenge on an international stage – and returning with outstanding results! 🎉
With zero preparation time and a global audience watching, our young innovators had to quickly grasp a brand‑new brief, learn to use Tencent’s all‑in‑one AI platform Q‑Claw (“Lobster”), and complete three on‑site challenges – including a final task to design and build a web‑based game from scratch. When technical errors kept appearing and the pressure soared, our students didn’t give up. Instead, they chose to debug calmly, redesign thoughtfully, and present their final work with confidence.
Behind the scenes, the most valuable learning went far beyond coding. Students learned to:
communicate and express themselves clearly under high pressure
turn arguments and disagreements into genuine collaboration
listen, compromise, and stand united as a team
We are delighted to share that our school received several important recognitions at this event:
🏆 Our students won First Prize in the Global Mini Program Innovation Challenge
🏅 Our teachers received the Outstanding Mentor Award
🎉 Our specially invited team successfully completed all Hackathon tasks
At the same event, our Founder and Head of School, Ms. Renée Boey (梅可欣), was invited to speak at Tencent Weixin’s “AI Education Innovation – Global Principals’ Forum”, at Tencent’s Shenzhen Mingwan School。 Ms. Boey shared insights on global trends in AI education and how Bloom KKCA Academy and Saint Too Bloom Academy integrate AI, entrepreneurship, and deep personalized learning into everyday lessons and school life.
Our heartfelt thanks to Tencent Weixin and all our partners for thoughtfully designing and supporting this learning platform, and to our parents and teachers for standing behind our students so they have the courage to step onto the stage, grow through real‑world challenges, and experience the true meaning of teamwork and innovation. ❤️💪

Our Grade 2 students recently embarked on a meaningful Round Square Service trip 🧡👵👴 to a local elderly home! It was a day filled with laughter, patience, and profound learning. The students engaged the elderly through interactive “I Spy” games and collaborative painting, but the true highlight was watching them develop empathy through action. When faced with communication barriers, they learned to adjust their voices and find creative ways to connect.
To wrap up the visit, the children performed a lively song and a Chinese Kung Fu show Di Zi Gui” (弟子規), bringing smiles to everyone’s faces. This experience taught our students that while communication takes effort, the joy of a shared smile is universal. 🌟
🛶🦀Our G3-4 students recently traded their classrooms for the historic stilt houses of Tai O, embarking on a vibrant journey of experiential learning. This was a deep dive into local traditions guided by the true masters of the craft—the village elders who have spent decades perfecting their skills. From the intricate art of fishnet weaving to the rhythmic coordination and "workout" of land dragon boat racing, our students learned that the best lessons often come from the wisdom of the community.
The air was filled with curiosity as the children cracked open raw duck eggs to start the sun-drying process, braving the "slimy" textures to understand the history of food preservation. Beyond the workshops, our students became active investigators, interviewing local villagers about the realities of fishing life. They asked insightful questions about the types of fish caught, the dangers of the open sea, and the traditional techniques used to navigate the waters. Combined with sightings of fiddler crabs and mudskippers in the mangroves, this journey of observation and inquiry gave our young explorers a profound respect for Hong Kong’s living heritage and the resilience of its people. 🐚✨

BEIJING JOURNEY: WHERE HERITAGE MEETS INNOVATION 🇨🇳🚀
Our students recently returned from Beijing with expanded horizons! As Dr. Soto reports, this educational expedition perfectly blended cultural heritage with future innovation.
Students connected with China's 3,000-year history at the Great Wall and Forbidden City, while also exploring contemporary innovation at companies like Weiling (behind Genshin Impact), Honghua Bakery, and even a cricket farm!
The immersive experience at a cutting-edge VR facility further demonstrated how technology is transforming industries and creating new possibilities for creative expression.
A highlight was the exchange with Daystar Academy, where our students witnessed peer-led social innovation projects addressing real community challenges.
The key takeaway? Innovation isn't just about groundbreaking inventions but practical, sustainable changes. This experience has broadened career perspectives and deepened understanding of how individual interests align with national development priorities in technology and entrepreneurship.
Students returned inspired, with a stronger sense of cultural identity and excitement about future possibilities!
