In January of 2026, and kicked off Facilitating for Impact (FFI) in partnership with . 50 participants (37 superintendents 13 directors) and 5 facilitators (Kim, Amy, Jeff, Michael & Peter) for 5 collectives (collective leader efficacy, trust in public education x 2, MTSS/special education)focusing on a 4-month short cycle.
The focus was two-fold. Concentrate on inquiry as a collective, but train participants to be future facilitators of collectives for WASA.
Fast forward to the WASA Superintendent’s Conference this weekend in Lake Chelan, and 6 of the FFI participants became facilitators of collectives. Instead of short breakouts, this conference focused on placing superintendents and attendees into collectives focused on topics like ai, advocacy, and math and literacy, and the feedback was powerful. It was a shift from sit-and-get professional development to collective professional learning.
Michael and Peter designed collectives to build capacity within organizations. Instead of constantly hiring consultants, collectives grow the leadership from within.
Thank you to Jeff Snell and for their leadership and desire to take a risk. This conference was unlike any other.
