Bonjour from Paris! 🇫🇷✈️ HKBU was honoured to join the Hong Kong higher education delegation at the inaugural France–Hong Kong University Presidents’ Forum in Paris from 21 to 22 May, engaging with more than 50 presidents and vice-presidents from French institutions.

Co-organised by the Consulate General of France in Hong Kong & Macau, France Universités, the University Grants Committee (UGC), and the HUCOM Standing Committee on Internationalisation, the forum marked a major milestone in deepening academic ties between Hong Kong and France. A highlight was the signing of a Letter of Intent with France Universités, paving the way for long-term student and faculty mobility and strategic collaborations to further elevate the “Study in Hong Kong” brand. 🤝✨

For HKBU, this forum builds on a longstanding partnership with French institutions, dating back to the launch of our European Studies Programme in 1994. Today, our global network includes 35 French exchange partners, supporting 130 exchange students annually, alongside seven double/combined degree programmes. The delegation also visited Sciences Po Paris, a cherished partner of HKBU for 28 years. 🏛️

During panel discussions, academic leaders explored collaborations to address global challenges, with dialogues on AI-driven innovation, sustainable finance, and clinical research. President and Vice-Chancellor Prof. Alexander Ping-kong Wai joined a distinguished panel on “AI Driven Innovation,” where he emphasised HKBU’s human-centred approach to technological advancement. He highlighted our transdisciplinary education, Art-Tech initiatives, and the importance of distinctly human capabilities such as critical thinking, resilience, and ethical judgement.

The momentum continued with visits to France’s most prestigious research bodies, including the French Academy of Sciences, Inserm, and CNRS. These engagements opened pathways for impactful collaborations and translation of research outcomes into real-world solutions.

HKBU looks forward to deepening ties with French counterparts, driving innovation, and co-creating a human-centred future together. 🌟

During panel discussions at the forum, academic leaders from both regions explored combining our expertise to address global challenges, exchanging dialogues on the frontiers of AI Driven Innovation, sustainable finance, clinical research and commercialisation. Our President and Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Alexander Ping-kong Wai, joined a distinguished panel on "AI Driven Innovation”, shared how HKBU keeps the human dimension at the centre of technological leaps, highlighting our transdisciplinary education nurturing future-shaping graduates and Art-Tech academic and research developments. Prof. Wai emphasised that while professional skills and AI competencies are important, the most future-shaping leaders will be those who possess distinctly human capabilities like critical thinking, resilience, and ethical judgement.

The strategic momentum continued as the delegation visited France’s most prestigious national research bodies, including the French Academy of Sciences, National Institute of Health and Medical Research (Inserm) and National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS). These high-level institutional visits unlocked concrete pathways to explore France-Hong Kong research collaboration and advance the translation of impactful research outcomes into real-world solutions.

On 22 April, Hong Kong Baptist University lit up its campus with the German Business & Career Expo 2026, part of our flagship Consul-General in Residence Programme (CGiR). 🌍💼

Co-organized with the German Consulate General Hong Kong and the German Chamber of Commerce Hong Kong, the Expo brought together leading German companies — giving HKBU students a golden chance to connect with global business leaders, explore Germany’s diverse industries, and discover pathways to international success.

As a highlight of APAIE 2026, we were delighted to host the 𝐇𝐊𝐁𝐔 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐒𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧, welcoming 𝟏𝟎𝟎 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝟐𝟕 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐫𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 to experience our community firsthand.

The session was kicked off by our President and Vice-Chancellor, Professor Alexander Ping-kong Wai, who warmly welcomed our global partners before they set off for the day.

The morning continued with an immersive campus tour, where partners explored the “HKBU of the future”: 🚀 𝐉𝐨𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐲 𝐂𝐥𝐮𝐛 𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐮𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐲 (𝐉𝐂𝟑): A deep dive into our Art Tech facilities and vibrant student residence life. 🎬 𝐃𝐨𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐲 𝐒𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐖𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐍𝐞𝐰𝐬 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐨: Seeing our professional-grade teaching environments in action. 👁️ 𝐕𝐢𝐬𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐞: An incredible look at 360-degree immersive experience, connecting guests with the next generation of Future Cinema Systems.

The celebration continued at our Networking Luncheon, where HKBU senior management connected with our guests. To cap off a successful APAIE week, we brought the festive spirit of Chinese New Year to life! 🧧🏮

Partners also participated in activities at the Chinese cultural booths, from an immersive Chinese Medicine Experiential Activities guided by our expert practitioners to discovering their Chinese names through Chinese Calligraphy and Papercutting. 🌿✨

With the vital support of the French Government and Campus France, these collaborations are doing more than just moving students, they are building lasting global pathways.
 
𝐃𝐫. 𝐑𝐲𝐚𝐧 𝐌𝐚𝐧, HKBU’s Associate Dean (Undergraduate Studies) of the School of Business, shared his front-line expertise on what truly makes these partnerships thrive. From the structural design of programs to the practicalities of institutional trust, the discussion offered a roadmap for scaling success in the business, science, and political science sectors. 📈💡
 
The session also uncovered:

The session, co-moderated by HKBU Vice-President (Teaching and Learning), Dr. Albert Chau, and CUHK Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education), Prof. Irwin King, highlighted students’ inspiring stories of personal growth and showcased Hong Kong as a leading destination for students eager to drive change, spark innovation, and build global networks. 🌏
 
HKBU was proudly represented by Eva Laurence Marine Dubost, a Year 2 French international student enrolled in the dual degree programme in Political Science and International Relations with Sciences Po Bordeaux. As SecretaryGeneral and President of the HKBU Model United Nations Conference 2026, Eva exemplifies student leadership with a global outlook shaped by her experiences in Hong Kong. 🌟

HKBU was delighted to bring a touch of HKBU spirit to the stage. Talented students from our Academy of Music delivered a fantastic saxophone performance of “The Lone Ar-ranger Goes Sax Mad!” 🎷🎶

The performance was incredibly well-received, with the audience captivated by the energy and skill on display. It created a vibrant, joyful atmosphere that perfectly captured Hong Kong’s warm hospitality while showcasing the immense creativity of our students. 🌟
