The President of OSA Student Chapter, City University of Hong Kong Zhang Yiwen was invited to give a report at Southern University of Science and Technology. During the event, student presidents and business representatives introduced information about their organizations and companies.

This morning, a brilliant speech entitled "Heterogeneous laser integration for silicon and silicon nitride photonics" was delivered by Dr. Chao XIANG, assistant professor from HKU in lecture room G4702 of AC1 at CityU. His research promises new opportunities and a bright future for silicon and silicon nitride photonics! Many interesting questions and discussions were brought up, and everyone learned a lot.

A splendid talk on silicon neuromorphic photonics and applications was given by Prof. Chaoran HUANG this morning (Nov. 19, 2021). As an emerging research area, silicon photonic neural network has aroused great attention within these few years given its nature of low power consumption and high bandwidth based on photonic platform. Due to the Covid-19, the seminar was held in hybrid mode, but the effect is still very good. Many interesting questions and ideas were proposed and the further discussion after the talk is also very inspiring.

CityU OPTICA Student Chapter has been reactivated on Nov. 14 2021. It is the only Student Chapter of its kind in Hong Kong. During the welcome meeting, the new chapter committee has elected with 4 PhD students.
The Student Chapter will be involved in carrying out various outreach activities in Hong Kong, which mainly focus on giving the students exposure to the latest advancements in the field of Optics and Photonics.
Hoping more and more students would like to join with us.

OSA President Prof. Philip Russell, CEO Liz Rogan, and Deputy Executive Director/Chief Publishing Officer Elizabeth Nolan visited our student chapter on 23 November 2015. They introduced the society and its activities to our members and students. After the gathering, we took a lab tour with CityU faculty members Prof. Kin-Seng Cheng, Dr. Andy Hau-Ping Chan, Dr. Nelson Sze-Chun Chan, and Dr. Sai-Tak Chu.

In the 2nd Optics Research Symposium, we invited 9 RS/RA speakers from both AP and EE Dept. of CityU. The topics covered wide range of photonics-related research areas from sub-milimeter wave to visible light.
