John McLaughlin is a legendary guitarist born in England in 1942, celebrated for his blazing speed, technical mastery, and innovative fusion of jazz, rock, and Indian music. He first gained major recognition playing with Miles Davis on groundbreaking albums like Bi***es Brew, then went on to form the Mahavishnu Orchestra, a hugely influential jazz fusion band. McLaughlin also explored Indian classical music deeply in his acoustic group Shakti. His work has inspired generations of guitarists across many genres.
