Professor Hua Zhang, Herman Hu Chair Professor of Nanomaterials from CityUHK's Department of Chemistry and the Director of the Hong Kong Institute for Clean Energy, has secured HK$39.64 million grants under the Research Grants Council’s (RGC) Theme-based Research Scheme (TRS). He will be leading the five-year project titled “Novel Unconventional Cu-based Catalysts for CO₂ Conversion towards Scalable Production of Value-added Chemicals”, which focuses on frontier developments in green technology and clean energy. The 5-year project led by Professor Xun-li Wang, Chair Professor in CityUHK’s Department of Physics, received HK$50 million under Research Grants Council’s (RGC) Areas of Excellence (AoE) Scheme to establish the Hong Kong Centre for Neutron Scattering (HKCNS), a world’s premier neutron scattering research platform based at CityUHK in collaboration with other local universities. 【三位理學院學者獲優配研究金/傑出青年學者計劃過百萬資助】

研究資助局早前公布2026/27年度優配研究金及傑出青年學者計劃的撥款結果，香港城市大學理學院共有35個研究項目獲批，總資助金額接近2800萬港元。當中化學系郭駿傑教授、數學系練恒教授以及物理學系徐昊偉教授的研究項目均獲撥款超過100萬港元。

Recently announced by the Research Grants Council (RGC), 35 projects from the College of Science (CSCI) were funded by the General Research Fund (GRF) / Early Career Scheme (ECS), with a total funding amount of close to HK$28 million. In particular, three CSCI faculty members have each received grants of more than a million dollars. They are Professor Chun-kit Kwok from the Department of Chemistry, Professor Heng Lian from the Department of Mathematics and Professor Haowei Xu from the Department of Physics.
