FB Don × CEO Luncheon – Exploring How Genetics and Early Environment Shape Business Careers

PolyU Business School successfully hosted its latest FB Don × CEO Luncheon on 19 August 2026, gathering academic experts and industry leaders for a compelling discussion on how genetic predisposition and early-life environments influence professional career trajectories in business and accounting.

The event opened with welcome remarks by Ir Prof. T.C. Edwin CHENG, Dean of PolyU Business School, followed by a presentation from Prof. Colin ZENG, Associate Professor in the School of Accounting and Finance, titled “Gene, Education, and Accounting Career Choice”. Following the presentation, Prof. Jimmy JIN, Associate Dean (External Relations and Development), moderated an interactive Q&A session.

The luncheon generated an engaging exchange among participants, who shared perspectives on talent pipelines, workforce development, and how early-life environmental factors can inform modern human capital strategies.

Speaking with Hong Kong Business recently, Prof. Dave Ding of the School of Accounting and Finance shared his insights on Hong Kong’s transition from stablecoin regulation to real-world ex*****on. With banks and payment firms preparing for tighter distribution rules and a HK$25m capital threshold, Prof. Ding stressed that institutions must first establish robust on-chain compliance and custody capabilities before expanding their stablecoin services.

During the summer institute, more than 80 students joined the PolyU Business School sessions. Participants dived into a range of exciting activities, including an interactive Business Simulation Game, where they gained valuable insights into entrepreneurship and the essential elements of a startup business, as well as a series of insightful thematic sessions:

- Prof. George Wong shared insights on the AI-Powered Accounting & Finance Industry.
- Prof. Dave Ko explored Smart Global Marketing and AI Strategy.
- Prof. Anthony Pang highlighted the Global Business Double Degree programme with a specialisation in Logistics.
