香港有超過 4,300 名 21 歲以下的兒童及青少年因家庭特殊情況，被安排入住兒童住宿照顧服務。

理大很高興能夠協助推動賽馬會「凝伙」計劃，發揮學術專業，為這群孩子的成長路點燃希望！🔥✨ 理大應用社會科學系（APSS）與香港賽馬會慈善信託基金早前為 15位「軌跡發展經理」及67位「兒童之家家長」舉行畢業典禮，慶祝他們順利完成由理大設計、以實證為本的專業培訓課程。🎓

典禮邀得社會福利署助理署長鄒鳳梅女士蒞臨主禮，理大 APSS 講座教授及系主任崔永康教授亦在致辭中強調，學術研究與前線服務的協作，是提升兒童住宿照顧服務質素的關鍵。這批畢業學員已準備就緒，將知識轉化為力量，成為孩子最強大的後盾。

Over 4,300 children and youth under the age of 21 in Hong Kong require residential child care services due to special family circumstances.

PolyU is thrilled to help drive the Jockey Club Project Bonfire, leveraging our academic expertise to ignite hope for these children on their journey of growth. 🔥✨ The Department of Applied Social Sciences (APSS) at PolyU, in partnership with The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, recently hosted a graduation ceremony for 15 Trajectory Development Managers and 67 House Parents to celebrate their successful completion of an evidence-based professional training curriculum designed by PolyU. 🎓

We were honored to have Ms. Wendy Chau, Assistant Director of the Social Welfare Department, officiated the ceremony. Prof. Eric Chui, Chair Professor and Head of APSS at PolyU, emphasised in his speech that collaboration between academic research and frontline services is key to elevating the quality of residential child care service. These graduating practitioners are now fully equipped to translate knowledge into empowerment, standing as the strongest pillars of support for children in care.

Our heartfelt thanks go out to every participant for their dedication. Let’s continue to walk hand-in-hand, supporting the holistic development of our children with professionalism and care. 🫶

Prof. Daniel Shek Named 2025 Highly Ranked Scholar by ScholarGPS

Prof. Daniel Shek has been named a 2025 Highly Ranked Scholar (Lifetime) by ScholarGPS, placing him among the top 0.05% of scholars worldwide. This honour recognises his prolific publication record, high-impact research, and outstanding contributions across multiple fields, including all fields of scholarly endeavours, social sciences, social work, well-being, secondary school, Chinese kinship, adolescence, longitudinal study, and adolescent medicine. Notably, Prof. Shek’s work in social work and Chinese kinship was ranked No. 1 globally in this year’s evaluation. His achievements underscore his significant influence and leadership in academia, as well as his dedication to advancing knowledge and making a lasting impact on society.

理大協理副校長（本科生課程）、本科生學院院長、應用社會科學講座教授、利豐服務領導教育教授石丹理教授獲 ScholarGPS 評選為 2025 年「終身高排名學者」，位列全球學者前 0.05%。此殊榮表彰他在學術出版、具高影響力的研究，以及在多個領域的傑出貢獻，包括所有學術領域、社會科學、社會工作、福祉、中學教育、中國親屬關係、青少年發展、縱向研究及青少年醫學。值得一提的是，石教授在社會工作及中國親屬關係領域的研究於本年度評選中均獲全球第一。這些成就突顯了他在學術界的重要影響力和領導地位，以及他致力推動知識進步和對社會產生深遠影響的專注精神。

Join us in discovering the stories and challenges of Hong Kong’s old districts through the URA x PolyU Igniting Social Innovation Competition 2026!
Co-organized by the Urban Renewal Authority (URA) and the Department of Applied Social Sciences (APSS) of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, this competition invites secondary school students to think creatively and propose innovative ideas that can help revitalize our communities while preserving their unique character.
Work together, think boldly, and be part of shaping a more caring and sustainable city for the future.

Eligibility:
• Senior secondary students in Hong Kong (S.4 & S.5 / Year 11 & 12 / Grade 10 & 11)
• Teams of 4 to 6 students
• Each school can nominate more than one team

• Training Workshops: 18 & 25 April 2026

We warmly invite all members of the PolyU community to participate in this meaningful event. To ensure a smooth and efficient donation process, we encourage you to make an online appointment in advance to donate blood at the PolyU Alumni Atrium (Room A122, 1/F, A Core). Booking ahead will help shorten waiting time and make the donation process smoother.
