VSA is an IB world school, located in Shum Wan next to the Aberdeen Harbour. We have over 1600 students and offer all three of the IB programmes - Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP). VSA emphasises a holistic approach at the heart of which is inquiry teaching and learning. The primary section offers a bilingual education (English and Mandarin); the secondary curriculum is delivered in English and supplemented by a strong Chinese programme. At VSA our mission is to develop passionate, healthy and also accomplished bilingual learners who are globally engaged. We will help our students STRIVE to be the best they can be. We will help our students ACT to make a better world.

Please join us in celebrating our Class of 2026 graduate, Yi Fan Chu, on receiving the prestigious Hong Kong Scholarship for Excellence Scheme (HKSES)! Funded by the HKSAR Government Education Bureau (EDB), this highly competitive scheme supports outstanding students pursuing higher education at world-renowned universities outside of Hong Kong. Yi Fan was selected as one of 61 recipients region-wide this year.

After scoring an incredible 44 points on her IB exams, Yi Fan is heading to Stanford University this fall to pursue dual Bachelor’s degrees in Human Biology and in Science, Technology and Society. Beyond her exceptional academic record, Yi Fan is a dedicated Taekwondo athlete and student leader who continuously turns her passions into meaningful community action. At VSA, community well-being is always at the forefront. We recently brought our educators and students together for Compassionate Systems Awareness training, taking an exciting step toward rolling out this framework across our entire school.

Working side by side, staff and students used practical tools—like the Iceberg Model—to look beneath the surface of everyday challenges, understand deeper patterns, and build shared leadership across our campus.

Involving students directly gives our whole school a shared language to navigate complex situations with empathy and clarity. This initiative is a core part of our long-term plan to create a supportive, compassionate environment where every member of VSA can truly thrive.

在 VSA，社群的福祉始終是我們的首要考量。近期，我們安排教職員與學生一同參與 Compassionate Systems Awareness 培訓，為全校推廣此架構邁出了關鍵且令人振奮的一步。

2,500 strong on one vibrant campus—today marks the start of an exciting new academic year at VSA!

It is a time for fresh beginnings and continuous growth. Today, we watched our newly minted Year 1s take their first steps as the Class of 2038, our Year 5s gear up for their transition into the MYP, and our Year 12s step up as campus leaders for the final chapter of their IB journey.

VSA school life goes far beyond the classroom. It is defined by unforgettable experiences, personal growth, and a strong, connected community. Here’s to a year of big milestones and growing together as one VSA family. Welcome back!

As we gear up to welcome our students back next week, our incredible team of 250 staff members has already dived headfirst into preparing for an unforgettable year!

We launched the year with inspiring vision setting from Dr. Victor Koong (Executive Director of Academy) and Mr. Ross Dawson (Primary Principal), and we are thrilled to officially welcome Dr. Shirla Sum into her new role as Chief Principal. Dr. Sum is set to take our IB-through-train advantage to new heights—ensuring our Primary students transition seamlessly and holistically into Secondary while nurturing their confidence and social-emotional growth every step of the way.
