In Tune | The Shape of Our Sound

Portraits of Two Voices, Conversations in Between, and Notes on Becoming.

What does it mean to find a voice that is truly your own?

Join Voision Xi and Xiaofan Sun for an evening of live music and conversation, where performance and dialogue unfold side by side.

Moving between jazz vocals, piano, synthesizers, percussion, and spontaneous improvisation, the two artists will reinterpret each other’s works, create music in the moment, and reflect on the winding paths that continue to shape their artistic identities.

An intimate gathering for listening, exchanging, and discovering the many forms a voice can take.

💽Voision Xi
A jazz singer-songwriter and producer whose work has been presented across Shanghai, Tokyo, Osaka, Taipei, Beijing, Chengdu, Guangzhou, and Hong Kong. Her albums *Lost for Words* and *Queen and Elf* have received international acclaim, including recognition from the Freshmusic Awards and HOPICO Music Awards, and she became the first mainland Chinese artist featured on Bandcamp Weekly

📻Sun Xiaofan
An independent musician and keyboardist whose debut solo album, *Not Grand Love*, brings together instrumental music, vocals, jazz, and math rock into a distinctive musical language.

📍 Venue: MEPoP, Room 4.38, 4/F, Run Run Shaw Tower, Centennial Campus, HKU

🎟️ Tickets are available via the QR code on the second slide or through the link in our bio.

We’re sharing highlights from our inaugural ‘In Conversation’ event on December 2 with the Co-Founders of Music & Arts Festival: Mike Hill (CEO) and Justin Sweeting (Head of Music).

Timed during the exciting week of Clockenflap’s 2025 edition, Mr Hill and Mr Sweeting talked about their journey building Hong Kong’s flagship music festival since 2008 in a discussion moderated by Dr. Li Meng de Bakker.

Topics included entrepreneurship in the local music scene, curation of international artists, the festival’s history, and plans for the future. They emphasised that while Clockenflap may expand its activities, the festival itself will always remain a brand for and by Hong Kong.

The founders also shared how they overcame major challenges, including torrential rain during the 2016 edition. Thanks to the waterproof technologies used, the show continued perfectly, proving the value of diligent preparation. During COVID-19, they faced very hard times keeping their team together when many others failed, but succeeded through strong leadership and commitment.

A big thank you to our guests and everyone who joined us onsite for the first iteration of our ‘In Conversation’ series!

We are delighted to share highlights from MEPoP’s launch event on October 30th with guest of honour Vincent Fang.

The evening began with inspiring speeches by Dean David Pomfret and MEPoP Co-Directors Mr. Jonathan Serbin and Professor Stacy Huang who affirmed MEPoP’s mission: to bridge academia and industry while empowering future music innovators. Together, they led the ceremonial ribbon-cutting, symbolising MEPoP’s vibrant entry into Hong Kong’s cultural landscape.

We were honoured to present legendary lyricist Vincent Fang with an official invitation to be the first MEPoP Industry Fellow, after which Mr. Fang wove together personal anecdotes with lyrical artistry in his talk, “The World of Words in Mandopop Lyric Writing”. Thanks to a very proactive audience, the event ended with a lively Q&A session.

To all who joined us on-site and online, thank you for making this launch unforgettable, stay tuned for what’s next!
