Meet Claire Wong, Administration Manager at YK Pao School Hong Kong, whose daily goal is to ensure a safe, inspiring environment where our students, staff, and families can learn, grow, and thrive. 🌱

Claire brings over 12 years of rich, hands-on experience in education administration. Having worked across every level of school management, she understands the nuts and bolts that keep a school running seamlessly.

Being part of the founding team at YK Pao School Hong Kong is a true milestone for Claire. She believes there is nothing quite like building a school community from the ground up and crafting a welcoming space that feels like a home away from home. 🏛️✨

At the forefront of our primary curriculum is Anna Merren, our IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) Coordinator. Anna’s educational philosophy is built on inquiry-based learning and genuine inclusivity. She believes that every child excels when immersed in a collaborative environment tailored to their unique needs🔍—an area of expertise she deepened through specialized postgraduate studies at the University of East London.

Holding degrees from the University of Edinburgh and the University of Roehampton, Anna brings a wealth of international leadership experience to our team🌟. Her distinguished career includes serving as Assistant Head at Brighton College Abu Dhabi, where she spearheaded Teaching and Learning, and guiding over 150 students each year through their milestone PYP Exhibition at Raha International School. With her dual expertise in both the English National Curriculum and the IB framework, Anna plays a pivotal role in shaping a dynamic, world-class learning community at YK Pao School Hong Kong.

An explorer at heart, Anna spent time traveling globally with her husband and young children, connecting with diverse communities around the world. This lived experience enriches her approach to education, allowing her to seamlessly weave a deep grounding in Chinese culture and the Hong Kong context with a vibrant international perspective to inspire our next generation of global citizens.🌍

On 24 August 2026, YK Pao School Hong Kong marked a historic milestone as we officially opened our doors to our founding cohort of 100 pioneer students! Dressed in tailored white and sage-green uniforms—with personalized pomelo charms on their backpacks—our students stepped confidently into a new journey of whole-person education.

Key Moments from Our Welcoming Ceremony:

🤖 Tech Meets Tradition: Special humanoid robots wowed the crowd, rocking Michael Jackson’s Billie Jean followed by a festive lion dance—the founders, trustees, distinguished guests and students loved every second!

📜 Unveiling Our Vision: Set to the thunderous beat of the dragon drum, Founding Head Mrs. Cathy Braithwaite and teachers unveiled our guiding scroll: "Learning with Joy, Living with Purpose, Nurturing Leaders for Tomorrow"

🔔 Striking the Gong: Founders Professor Anna Pao Sohmen and Mr. Philip Pao Sohmen struck the ceremonial gong to mark our commencement, and shared heartfelt words of encouragement to our students!

【🌟 An Inspiring Summer Camp Experience at Pao Beyond 🚀】

This summer, Pao Beyond hosted its very first summer camp in Hong Kong at the YK Pao School Hong Kong Kowloon East campus, welcoming young learners to an exciting journey of creativity and growth!

Guided by the core learning framework—Observe ➔ Strategise ➔ Build—campers spent one to three unforgettable weeks unlocking new skills, forming friendships, and bringing big ideas to life: 💡

🕵️‍♂️ Week 1 (Super Observer): Students sharpened their perception and compiled incredible Personal Exploration Journals.
🏆 Week 2 (Super Strategist): Campers put their logical reasoning to the test as they designed original board games and custom medals.
🏗️ Week 3 (Super Builder): Campers combined teamwork and systems thinking to construct impressive community models.

Focused on community building and character education throughout, the entire camp offered a rich blend of English Drama, fun co-curricular activities (sports, arts and science), and twice-daily Circle Time. Every day was filled with hands-on discovery, ending with a dedicated moment for students to reflect on and summarise their daily learnings. 🔬

We were delighted to serve as the venue host for Pao Beyond’s inspiring summer camp on our campus and we can’t wait to see these bright minds continue to explore and shine. 🏫
