This is the type of book I would suggest to families. It presents great opportunities to practise phonetics with non-sense words (typical of Dr. Seuss). Decoding Phonics 家長講座：揭秘更有效學習同運用拼音嘅技巧。我哋完成簡短問卷後會聯絡你。 A seminar for parents to uncover tips and tricks for more effective phonics learning and utilization. We will contact you after the short survey is completed.

Writing is challenging to teach and to learn, but keeping things in perspective with expectations in mind and defined will help you win the battle.

1. 𝗚𝗘𝗧𝗧𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗥𝗧𝗘𝗗 (𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗸 𝗣𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗦𝘆𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗲)
• 𝗦𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗸 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁, 𝗪𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗟𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿! Have a conversation about the topic or even simply have your child dictate what they could put on the page. Getting your child to hear their ideas helps the words get on their page. The mouth is a lot closer to the brain than the hand is.

2. 𝗠𝗢𝗧𝗜𝗩𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 (𝗧𝗵𝗲 "𝗜 𝗗𝗼𝗻'𝘁 𝗪𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗮!")
• 𝗦𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: 𝗠𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗶𝘁 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲! Starting the writing journey should be all about the effort, not so much the outcome. When writing feels like a chore, how can we expect our children to jump at the chance to do writing? Keep expectations in check and set a baseline to compare.

3. 𝗖𝗢𝗥𝗥𝗘𝗖𝗧 𝗜𝗧 𝗢𝗥 𝗟𝗘𝗧 𝗜𝗧 𝗕𝗘?
• 𝗦𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: 𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗜𝗱𝗲𝗮! In the initial stages, the content (the idea, the story) is always more important than perfect spelling and grammar. Praise their effort and creativity first. Over-correcting kills confidence.

4. 𝗛𝗢𝗪 𝗠𝗨𝗖𝗛 𝗜𝗦 𝗘𝗡𝗢𝗨𝗚𝗛?
• 𝗦𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: 𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘆! If your child is able to sit and write, it might be a good idea to focus on the quality over the quantity. Take a look at their sentence structure, vocabulary, and use of language to convey an idea. A short paragraph with thought out structure and strong vocabulary will always be better than long, drawn-out sentences with repeating words and limited vocabulary.

5. 𝗖𝗥𝗜𝗧𝗜𝗖𝗜𝗦𝗠 (𝗙𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗚𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘁 𝗪𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴)
• 𝗦𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: 𝗕𝗲 𝗮 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿, 𝗡𝗼𝘁 𝗮 𝗖𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗰! Create a safe space for experimentation. It will pay dividends if you reward the effort placed on their writing rather than the outcome. Getting your child to pick up the pencil and write will always be the most challenging part of the writing journey.

𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿: The goal is to build confident, joyful writers who see writing as a tool for expression, not a test.
