ANSHK Macau Trip January 2025

ANSHK also successfully organized a trip to Macau on Friday, January 31, 2025. The event saw enthusiastic participation from numerous scholars along with their families and friends.

Macau, often referred to as the "Las Vegas of Asia," offers a captivating blend of Eastern and Western cultures, making it a unique destination for travelers seeking adventure. A trip to this vibrant city promises a plethora of experiences, from exploring its historic landmarks to indulging in culinary delights.

However, the idea behind the ANSHK Macau trip is to boost understanding and respect for local customs and traditions in order to foster positive interactions with the residents of Macau. Food markets and street vendors offered a chance for our scholars to experience the local culture firsthand, enhancing the overall adventure.

In addition to its urban allure, Macau also offers serene beaches and lush landscapes for outdoor enthusiasts. Hiking trails and picturesque parks provide opportunities for our scholars to unwind and enjoy scenic beauty.

During the trip, scholars had the opportunity to explore the rich culture and unique attractions of Macau, discovering new places and creating lasting memories together. Overall, the ANSHK trip to Macau is about immersing oneself in a rich tapestry of culture, cuisine, and adventure, making it a must-visit city for our scholars.

It was truly a remarkable adventure that fostered solidarity within the ANSHK community.

ANSHK ANNUAL BARBECUE AND GAMES EVENT DECEMBER 2024

ANSHK successfully organized its annual barbecue and games event on Thursday, December 26, 2024, at the BBQ spot by the sea front at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST). The event saw participation from many scholars, along with their families and friends, creating a vibrant and enjoyable atmosphere. Scholars had the opportunity to engage in meaningful interactions, fostering connections between new scholars and their continuing counterparts. This exchange of ideas contributed to a collaborative spirit and strengthened our academic community.

However, as we reflect on the event, it is important to know that ANSHK ensured that the following were adequately addressed in order to have a successful BBQ event:

i. ANSHK ensured compliance with food safety standards and managed dietary restrictions.

ii. ANSHK considered waste management issues and the use of sustainable materials to minimize our ecological footprint.

iii. ANSHK coordinated seating, supplies, and activities to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for all attendee scholars.

iv. ANSHK was able to accommodate participants with varying needs; every scholar feels welcome and comfortable.

ANSHK appreciates everyone's participation and support in making this event a success. We look forward to more opportunities to connect in the future.

ANSHK Courtesy Visit to the Nigerian Consulate in Hong Kong

ANSHK on Thursday, November 28, 2024, the executive board of the Association of Nigerian Scholars in Hong Kong (ANSHK), including President Mr. IyInoluwa Davies, Secretary General Mr. Ogunusola Ajibola, Treasurer Mr. Tiamiyu Abd' Gafar, and Information Officer Mr. Samaila Garba, had the privilege of visiting the Consul General of Nigeria in Hong Kong, Ambassador Oludare Ezekiel Folowasele on a courtesy call.

As the official representative of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in Hong Kong, the Consul General diligently works towards several key objectives, including:

1. Advancing and protecting Nigeria's national interests
2. Ensuring the safety and legal protection of Nigerian citizens and entities in Hong Kong SAR
3. Promoting Nigeria's economic prosperity on the global stage
4. Fostering international cooperation to enhance universal peace and mutual respect among nations while combating discrimination in all forms
5. Advocating for a fair global economic order

We commend his efforts in these areas. During our visit, we engaged in meaningful discussions regarding initiatives aimed at enriching the academic and cultural experiences of our members. Conversations focused on empowering Nigerian scholars, promoting cultural exchange, facilitating the flow of pertinent information from the consulate, and strengthening the ANSHK community in Hong Kong.

We extend our sincere gratitude to Ambassador Oludare Ezekiel Folowasele for the warm welcome and his unwavering commitment to supporting ANSHK.

The ANSHK (Association of Nigerian Scholars in Hong Kong) hosted an indoor tennis event on the 27th of July 2024 at the Kwun Chung Sports Centre in Jordan, Hong Kong. In alignment with the theme, we encourage all presenters to connect their research findings with at least one of the 17 United Nations Sustainability Development Goals (SDGs). Abstracts are welcome from across various disciplines, but not limited to:
