“Why would a surgeon need an EMBA?”
Dr. Jennifer Mok, ophthalmologist and head of ophthalmology at Human Health, gave a clear answer. Years in medicine had trained her to be precise, directive, and absolute. Yet as her responsibilities expanded into corporate leadership, she recognized that clinical expertise alone could not equip her for the challenges ahead. “I needed to develop a strategic mindset,” she reflects. “The Kellogg-HKUST EMBA was the most straightforward and right decision.”
The program became her bridge from the microscope to the macro view. Ranked number one globally on 12 occasions by the Financial Times, the Kellogg-HKUST EMBA offered Jennifer the intellectual rigor and international exposure she needed. Surrounded by senior global leaders from industries as diverse as finance, technology, and manufacturing, she broke free from the confines of her clinical mindset, learnt the discipline of data-driven decision-making, and put collaborative leadership into practice.
Though it may seem unconventional, Jennifer believes medical professionals gain a deeper perspective when they step into the world of business. For her, an EMBA was the right place to start. In just 18 months, it changed the way she approached leadership and the way she understood her own potential. Watch the full interview to hear her story: https://youtu.be/CZ6XfjgpLvI
