[UALL & SCUTREA Conference 2026: Reimagining Lifelong Learning in Higher Education]

Ms. Tracy Lo, Head of Division of Part-time and Training Programmes, represented the School at the annual conference jointly organised by the Universities Association for Lifelong Learning (UALL) and its Standing Committee on University Teaching and Research in the Education of Adults (SCUTREA). This marks her second consecutive year of participation in this prestigious international event.

Building on the success of ‘Inaugural Roundtable on Dialogue of University Continuing Education Schools’ (https://www.hkmu.edu.hk/lipace/irduces/) held at HKMU LiPACE in April 2026, this year’s UALL Conference hosted by the University of Warwick in June 2026, further explored the implementation of lifelong learning in universities and Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), under the theme ‘Reimagining Lifelong Learning in Higher Education’.

During the Conference, Ms. Lo presented her paper titled 'Navigating Challenges, Seizing Opportunities: A University Continuing Education School in Hong Kong’, sharing practices in adult learning that highlight the School’s commitment to “Advancing VPET and Lifelong Learning for All”.

本院兼讀制及培訓課程學部主管盧嘉欣女士出席了由Universities Association for Lifelong Learning (UALL) 與University Teaching and Research in the Education of Adults (SCUTREA)共同舉辦的年度會議。這是她連續第二年參與這項國際盛會。

承接2026 年4月於香港都會大學 LiPACE 舉辦的「Inaugural Roundtable on Dialogue of University Continuing Education Schools」的成功經驗 (https://www.hkmu.edu.hk/lipace/irduces/)，今年的 UALL 年度會議於2026年6月在華威大學舉行，進一步探討大學及高等教育機構推行終身學習的實踐。本年會議主題為「Reimagining Lifelong Learning in Higher Education」。

在會議中，盧主管發表了題目為「Navigating Challenges, Seizing Opportunities: A University Continuing Education School in Hong Kong」的演講，展現學院致力「推動職專教育 鼓勵終身學習」的目標。

【拓展寵物護理與動物保健的國際視野】
本院 HKMU Lipace HD in Pet Care and Lifestyle Services 寵物護養及生活服務高級文憑 師生於6月07至16日前往中國台灣臺中市，到訪弘光科技大學 弘光科技大學 Hungkuang University（弘光），展開為期十天的學術及應用交流，開闊國際視野！

學習體驗精華回顧：

寵物訓練｜「系犬」助教同行
弘光導師示範運用「響片」訓練服從的理論與實踐，並由「指導手」引導犬隻展現最佳姿態。

創新教學｜以手作帶出理論
在製作相關手作品過程中，同學先掌握狗隻各部位形態及比例，其次梳理毛髮，最後進行剪毛；於實作中同步學習相關理論。

獸醫基礎｜由實踐追溯理論
覺得解剖學、生理學及生物化學較為吃力？同學先在臨床獸醫師與「系犬」帶領下，由 pre-clinic 階段練習基本獸醫檢查，再回到課堂銜接理論。

寵物市場｜洞悉消費心理
市場營銷思維同樣重要。前企業高管指導同學設計「爆炸卡」吸引顧客，其核心在於掌握市場及消費心理。

寵物美食｜均衡營養為先
烘焙寵物點心不僅講究色、香、味，弘光導師強調須掌握寵物生理及消化特性，方能達致營養均衡。

企業參訪｜營運心得
台灣的大型連鎖獸醫醫院和寵物店教授營運理念和展望。

最大亮點：「學伴同行」
學伴為弘光在讀國際學生（包括來自香港的同學），以義工形式陪同本院同學上課及探索臺中，促進跨文化交流與友誼。

LiPACE FHDPCLS Students’ 10-Day Taiwan Exchange at Hungkuang University

Students and faculty from our Higher Diploma in Pet Care and Lifestyle Services visited Taichung, Taiwan, China from 7–16 June for a 10-day academic and practical exchange at Hungkuang University, expanding their professional and international horizons.

Highlights from the programme:
Pet Training – Students observed clicker-based obedience training with “department dogs” demonstrating real techniques.

Innovative Teaching – A hands-on craft activity helped students learn canine body proportions alongside grooming skills.

Veterinary Foundations – Students practised basic examinations in a pre-clinic setting before linking experience to theory.

Pet Industry – A former corporate executive introduced marketing concepts through creative “explosion card” design.

Pet Cuisine – Instructors emphasised that pet treats must meet animals’ nutritional and physiological needs, not just appearance and taste

Corporate Visit - Grand veterinary hospital and pet store chains in Taiwan shared their visions and missions.

Highlight: Learning buddies
Hungkuang’s international students, including those from Hong Kong, joined as learning buddies, supporting classes and cultural exchange.

Dean Dr. Benjamin Chan and Programme Director Ms. Julia Hui paid a courtesy visit to Consul-General Bauyrzhan Dosmanbetov of the Republic of Kazakhstan today, accompanied in the meeting by Vice Consul Samat Madaniyatov.

The discussion focused on opening more study opportunities for Kazakhstan students as well as broadening partnerships with Kazakh higher education institutions where HKMU LiPACE currently partners with Ualikhanov University, Atyrau University and the Eurasian National University.

LiPACE looks forward to strengthening academic ties and fostering more international collaboration with Kazakhstan in the months ahead.

LiPACE 院長曾德源博士及課程總監許慧怡女士今日禮節性拜訪哈薩克斯坦共和國總領事Bauyrzhan Dosmanbetov，會面並由副領事 Samat Madaniyatov 先生陪同出席。

會談聚焦於為哈薩克斯坦學生開拓更多在港就讀的機會，以及拓展與哈薩克斯坦高等教育機構的合作。目前，HKMU LiPACE已與Ualikhanov University，Atyrau University ，以及 Eurasian National University建立合作夥伴關係。

2026年6月17日，南京工業職業技術大學黨委書記謝永華教授與港澳台事務辦公室主任何正英教授蒞臨本院葵興校區參訪交流。香港都會大學學術副校長關清平教授、學術副校長行政助理呂淑貞女士，我院院長曾德源博士、副院長陳羿帆博士、高級講師楊美琼共同出席了本次會面。

南京工業職業技術大學是一所歷史悠久的百年名校，在多個領域於內地高職院校中排名前茅。其前身中華職業學校由著名教育家黄炎培先生於1918年創建，為中國職業教育發展的先驅者與重要奠基者。

是次會面加深了雙方的相互了解，亦為未來的合作計劃奠定了良好基礎。嘉賓參觀了本院極具「在地國際化」特色的校園設計與多元化教學理念，以及多個體驗式學習的功能課室。我們期待進一步商討合作細節，深化校際合作，攜手為兩地學生提供更高品質的學習與發展機會。

On 17 June 2026, Professor XIE Yonghua, Party Secretary of Nanjing University of Industry Technology, and Professor HE Zhengying, Director of the Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs Office, visited our Kwai Hing Campus for an exchange. Professor Reggie KWAN, Provost of Hong Kong Metropolitan University, Ms. Crystal LUI, Executive Assistant to Provost, as well as LiPACE’s Dean Dr. Benjamin CHAN, Associate Director Dr. Yvonne CHEN and Senior Lecturer Ms. May YANG welcomed them and attended the meeting.

Nanjing University of Industry Technology is a century-old institute with a long and distinguished history, ranking among the top higher vocational institutions in the Mainland in multiple aspects. Its predecessor, the Zhonghua Vocational School, was founded in 1918 by renowned educator Mr HUANG Yanpei and is widely regarded as a pioneer and foundational force in the development of vocational education in the Mainland.

This meeting deepened mutual understanding between the two institutes and laid a solid foundation for future collaboration. The guests toured the campus to learn more about LiPACE’s distinctive “internationalization-in-place” campus design and teaching philosophy, as well as our various functional classrooms designed for experiential learning. We look forward to further discussions on cooperation details, strengthening inter-institutional collaboration, and working together to provide higher-quality learning and development opportunities for students from both Hong Kong and Mainland.

Dr. Dzmitry Marozau (Associate Professor, Belarusian State University) and Ms. Marina Kondrashova (Director, VS Global) paid a visit to LiPACE’s Kwai Hing Campus. They were warmly welcomed by Dr. Benjamin Chan (Dean) and colleagues, who introduced them to the School's various academic and cultural initiatives.

The visit also included a tour of our unique culture-themed spaces and functional classrooms, setting the stage for a promising partnership. We look forward to collaborations that will benefit our students.

白俄羅斯國立大學副教授 Dzmitry Marozau 博士及 VS Global 總監 Marina Kondrashova 女士，於2026 年 6 月 16 日到訪本院葵興校園。

院長曾德源博士聯同學院團隊接待兩位嘉賓，並介紹學院於學術創新及文化交流方面的最新發展。隨後，嘉賓參觀了本院具特色的「文化主題空間」及多用途功能教室，對學院推動「在地國際化」、把全球視野帶進本地課堂的成果留下深刻印象。

是次交流為雙方未來的合作奠定穩固基礎。我們期待於不久將來開展更多元化的協作項目，為學生拓展國際視野，創造更豐富、更具啟發性的學習機遇。

2026年6月16日，山東濰坊學院外語學院院長張學祥教授親臨本院，與院長曾德源博士、副院長陳羿帆博士、課程總監施韻博士、署理課程總監張濤博士、高級講師楊婉琳女士，以及語言、通識教育與數碼素養學部的教職員，進行了富有成果的會面。
雙方就教職員及學生的文化交流互訪探討進一步合作，並就共同關注的和平教育理念分享見解。會後，本院團隊向張院長介紹學院多個具有文化特色的空間及多功能教室。
衷心感謝張院長的蒞臨，並共同期待於九月在香港成功舉辦和平主題論壇，深化校際合作和推動和平教育的發展。

On 16 June 2026, Professor ZHANG Xuexiang, Dean of Weifang University Foreign Language College, visited our campus and had a fruitful meeting with Dr. Benjamin CHAN (Dean), Dr. Yvonne CHEN (Associate Director), Dr. Sylvia SZE (Programme Director), Dr. CHEUNG Tao (Acting Programme Director), Ms. Melissa YEUNG (Senior Lecturer), as well as staff from the Language, General Education and Digital Literacy Unit (LGEDL).
Both parties explored further collaboration through staff and student cultural exchanges, and shared insights on their joint vision in fostering peace education. After the meeting, our team accompanied Dean ZHANG on a campus tour showcasing various culturally themed areas and multifunctional classrooms.
We sincerely thank Dean ZHANG for his visit, and look forward to jointly hosting the Inaugural Symposium on International Peace Day Celebration in September to deepen inter-institutional collaboration and promote the development of peace education.
