🏮 Chinese New Year is nearly here, and we’ve been embracing the energy, colour, and traditions that make this festival so special for our Prep School community!

🧧 Year 1 crafted their own beautiful red envelopes using traditional foil-stamping with gold and black paint. A lovely keepsake to bring home!

🧶 Year 2 created adorable pom pom threading art, developing their fine motor skills while making something soft and colourful.

📜 Year 3 tried their hand at ancient paper-making! Each pupil embedded dried flowers into their own handmade sheet—a true blend of art and history.

🎋 Year 4 explored the traditional craft of coloured bamboo weaving, recognised as Intangible Cultural Heritage. They wove festive patterns to take home.

🎭 Year 5 brought drama and colour to the celebrations by painting vibrant Beijing Opera masks, learning about the symbolism and stories behind each design.

🐉 Years 6–8 worked together on a collective giant red dragon installation through paper-cutting and teamwork. Their amazing artwork will be displayed around the school!

Wishing everyone a joyful and prosperous Chinese New Year! ✨

🌏 What an unforgettable week! Our Year 9 and 10 students have just returned from their residential trip to Chiang Mai, Thailand — a journey filled with adventure, cultural discovery, and memories that will last a lifetime.

From hiking, caving, rock climbing, abseiling, and camping to learning how to cook local dishes and create traditional crafts, students embraced each challenge and discovery with enthusiasm.

Along the way, they developed greater independence, strengthened friendships, and grew confidence as they stepped outside their comfort zones together.

Trips like this bring learning to life through new experiences, cultural understanding, and a real sense of adventure.

We’re incredibly proud of our students’ growth and look forward to making even more lasting memories through similar experiences to come! ✨

Learning is at its best when pupils and parents learn side by side. 💙

We were pleased to welcome families into classrooms for an afternoon of shared learning and collaboration. From designing satellites and coding in iSTEAM, to tackling maths challenges, creating stories in Drama, making art, getting active in PE, and exploring ideas in Humanities and Chinese, it was a pleasure to see pupils confidently guide their parents through their learning.

Thank you to all the families who joined us and took the time to experience school life first-hand. Moments like these reflect the strong partnership between home and school that sits at the heart of our community.

What did you enjoy discovering alongside your child?

🌿 Here’s to embracing different perspectives on health and wellness! Our Y6-8 pupils enjoyed a brilliant interactive drama all about Chinese medicine yesterday afternoon! 😂

😂 It was both hilarious and fascinating as the actors compared traditional Chinese practices with Western medicine. Our students were deeply engaged, asking our visiting Chinese medicine doctor some fantastic questions.

To finish, everyone took home a lovely aromatic herbal pouch. Filled with natural herbs, these provide gentle, therapeutic support through scent—a wonderful example of non-invasive wellbeing.

Thank you to the talented performers and our expert doctor for a session that blended laughter and learning. ✨

Another successful Parent Coffee Morning in the books! ☕

Together, we explored how to navigate the senior school journey and the distinct advantages of a British education, with a focus on the IGCSE and A-Level pathways.

A key takeaway was understanding how to tailor these academic routes to each child's individual goals, strengths, and ambitions. At Wycombe Abbey School Hong Kong, we support this journey by providing a strong academic foundation, personalised guidance, and holistic development—ensuring every pupil is well-prepared for future success.

We look forward to continuing to guide our pupils and families forward with clarity and confidence.

Last evening, we welcomed families to an engaging information session exploring how English learning grows across the Prep School, and how parents can confidently support this journey at home.

During the session, our team shared how English language skills develop throughout the primary years at WASHK, what learning looks like in the classroom, and how families can extend this learning meaningfully at home. Parents also explored the digital platforms and curriculum tools used across the Prep School, alongside practical strategies and recommended resources.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for an informative and collaborative evening. We value the partnership between home and school, knowing that parent involvement plays a vital role in every child’s language journey.
