250 schools shifted online this week. And the ones doing it well aren’t the big names. They’re the ones who’d already thought about it. Crisis plan in place. Counsellors running sessions. Teachers checking in on every child.
A head in Dubai said it best: if we’re steady, the children feel steady.

During the school day children have a lot of learning experiences, but the youngest might find it hard to share them all. Megan, a Year 1 teacher at NEST, has a few tips for staying in the loop:

• Check Seesaw regularly (or your school’s learning platform of choice) and use what’s shared there as a starting point for conversation. The photos and videos make it a lot easier than asking “so what did you do today?”

• Chat with the teachers and ask them questions directly. They’ll be more than happy to get you up to speed!

• Make time to attend their exhibition of learning, show and tell or student showcases so you can see what your children have been up to with your own eyes.
