When we make swim a gift for all to enjoy - love flows 💞

In our frequent talk about attachment as something important for children's well-being and development, we often forget to emphasize that it works both ways:

The better the connection and the richer the relationship, the more the parents also thrive and develop.

To foster secure attachments development experts points towards at least three functions:

1. Provide a sense of safety and security.

2. Be emotionally aware, active and responsive.

3. Be your baby’s secure base to explore the world from and - the safe harbour she can return to and find calm with.

For this to work it begins with you - the adult.

What do you need to feel safe and secure in body and mind?
How emotionally aware are you? Stay curious and you will open doors within yourself you didn't know existed!

If you like it we can dive deeper into this later.

Much love and happy splashes/

Helpful may lead to helpless😯

To be too helpful can make our children helpless, so called "learned helplessness".

Our job as parents and teachers is to, every day see and understand what our children now are ready and reaching out to learn. Then give that "just enough" help. That will not only support your child's development it will grow trust and confidence in both of you.

"In order to help another effectively, I must understand what he understands. If I do not know that, my greater understanding will be of no help to him... instruction begins when you put yourself in his place so that you may understand what he understands and in the way he understands it." - Søren Kierkegaard

When you help your child ask yourself if the help is for you? Do you do it because it makes you feel needed or valued? Is it out of fear of not being a good parent? Is it because it's quicker if you just do it?

Or are you giving that just enough support and help and rejoice with your child as he/she grow into more autonomy and become more self-sufficient?

These are questions that are eye-openers to many adults.

每人都有自己的步伐去成長,學習。身為父母,又是游泳老師,我希望時常記得這個概念

Caught in rigid thoughts 😎

How often have I not been in the situation when my view or my way, (the right way) have been challenged (often by loved and respected ones (!)).

Only to realize that we can reach the same goal through different paths. What I have learned is that it's not about being right... it's how we feel along the journey and in the end.

To understand it is one thing, to practice it a different thing which means I still fall into rigid thoughts. Especially when I am tired or hungry. Luckliy there is a cure for that.

How about you?

"You have your way. I have my way. As for the right way, the correct way, and the only way, it does not exist." - Friedrich Nietzsche
