Step inside a piece of literary history. Oxford welcomed a remarkable addition to its collections: Lewis Carroll’s personal copy of the suppressed 1865 first edition of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. Donated by Ellen A. Michelson, the volume is held jointly by Christ Church and the Bodleian Libraries. You can now explore Carroll’s own annotations and John Tenniel’s original drawings on Digital Bodleian.

Could the secret to restoring tropical paradises lie beneath the soil? New Oxford-led research reveals that symbiotic fungi are essential for restoring tropical island ecosystems. On Palmyra Atoll, these fungi convert seabird guano into fertile soil, enabling native trees to thrive. This discovery highlights that protecting underground networks is vital for reforesting habitats and sustaining the biodiversity of both island forests and coral reefs.
