In recent years, there has been an increasing interest among Hong Kong families in studying in Ireland. Apart from using the Euro, which makes boarding fees more affordable compared to the UK, Hong Kong students can study in Ireland without a visa. For families looking for relatively economical boarding schools, this is a good option.

The Institute of Education - Ireland (IOE) is one of Ireland’s most popular top-tier institutions. Its one-year and two-year Irish Leaving Certificate (ILC) programmes are globally recognised, comparable to A-Level or IB qualifications. Students can use this certification to gain admission to the world’s top universities. In recent years, many students have been admitted to prestigious universities such as Oxbridge, and Harvard university.

The school does not require an entrance exam, applicants only need to attend interview and meet the requirement of an IELTS score of 6.0. 【🇬🇧 2024 #英國學校訪問之旅 | King's College, Taunton】

Taunton 的第二站是另一所男女寄宿學校 King's College, Taunton。學校佔地 80 英畝，但學生人數僅 450 名。學校理念是為每位學生提供個人化的教育 (Personalised Education)，而對學生的關顧 (Pastoral Care) 更是學校一大優勢。校長 Mr Sloan 提到 “If a student is spotted unhappy at breakfast, the matter is sorted by lunch” (如果他們早上察覺到寄宿生稍有不妥，到中午事情就一定會解決)，可見教職員對學生生活觀察入微、加倍重視。

學校特意安排兩位學生代表陪同帶領參觀，其中女生分享她初時獲體育獎學金來到 King's Taunton，及後在學期間陸續獲頒予學術、戲劇及音樂另外三個獎學金。這位小女孩的成就當然令人嘖嘖稱奇，更重要是印證了 King's Taunton 的優良教育，積極提供機會讓學生發挖潛能、發揮所長。Battie 請兩位學生代表簡短概括在 King's Taunton 的體驗，他們不約而表示時間飛快 (Time flies)、在學校的時間太短 (Too short)！

The second stop in Taunton was another coeducational boarding school, King's College, Taunton. Occupying 80 acres of land, King's College, Taunton, has a student population of merely 450. The school's philosophy revolves around providing personalised education for each student, with a strong emphasis on pastoral care. Headmaster Mr. Sloan mentioned, "If a student is spotted unhappy at breakfast, the matter is sorted by lunch," underscoring the meticulous care and utmost importance given to students' well-being by the faculty and staff.

Two student representatives guided Battie and Jonesman during the visit. Among them, a female student shared her amazing journey, starting with receiving a sports scholarship to King's Taunton, followed by being awarded three additional scholarships in academics, drama, and music throughout her time at the school. The accomplishments of this young girl are undoubtedly commendable, but more importantly, they are a testament to the excellent education provided by King's Taunton, actively fostering opportunities for students to explore their potential and showcase their talents. When Battie asked the two student representatives to summarise their experience at King's Taunton, they coincidentally expressed that time flies and their time at the school felt too short!

【2024 #英國學校訪問之旅 | Taunton School】

Battie 和 Jonesman 這站來到英格蘭西南部、充滿歷史色彩的 Taunton，探訪當地兩所男女寄宿學校，其中之一是 。

校長 Mr. Johnson 與一眾學校代表帶領 Battie 和 Jonesman 遊覽 56 英畝遼闊校園，並分享了學校動向與學生發展。Mr. Johnson 曾於 Cheltenham College 及 Tonbridge School 任教，及後來到 Taunton School，教學方針是讓學生走出自己獨特的成功路，同時得以享受旅程。

Battie and Jonesman arrived at the historically rich town of Taunton in southwestern England, where they embarked on a visit to two prestigious boarding schools, one of which was Taunton School.

Led by Headmaster Mr. Johnson and a group of school representatives, Battie and Jonesman were guided through the vast 56-acre campus, while being enlightened about the school's latest developments and student achievements. Mr. Johnson, who had previously taught at Cheltenham College and Tonbridge School, later joined Taunton School, adopting a teaching philosophy that encourages students to forge their own unique paths to success, all while enjoying the journey.

The school is committed to providing students with an extensive array of academic disciplines. In the future, elective courses will be introduced, encompassing a broader range of learning fields, such as AI, politics and philosophy, entrepreneurship, and more. This approach aims to enable each student to explore their individual interests and assist them in achieving their aspirations. According to Dr. Mallard, the Deputy Academic Director, the school's pre-medical programme has been remarkably successful, with every student who participated in the course receiving offers from at least two medical schools. This achievement is particularly enticing for students from Hong Kong who are interested in pursuing a medical career.
