PolyU Deputy President and Provost Prof. Wing-tak Wong led a high-level delegation to Central Asia, joining the HKSAR Government’s visit to Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. Witnessed by the Chief Executive Mr John Lee, the exchange of multiple MoUs marks a significant step forward in expanding the University’s global footprint within the Belt and Road framework🌍🤝.

In Kazakhstan, the delegation exchanged an MoU with the nation's top institution, Nazarbayev University, to promote a student mobility programme and strengthen collaboration among members of the "University Alliance of the Silk Road". Through HKSAR Government business networking events, PolyU representatives successfully connected with prominent regional leaders to expand the University's global academic network🌐.

A major highlight was deepening academic collaboration in Uzbekistan. PolyU has further strengthened its partnership with the "El-Yurt Umidi" Foundation to provide professional training for Uzbek officials in Cybersecurity, Robotics, and Drone Systems starting in 2026, alongside joint undergraduate scholarships. Under another MoU, PolyU and New Uzbekistan University agreed to strengthen educational ties through strategic partnerships🌟.

✨理大深化與中亞頂尖院校的聯繫與學術合作🤝🏻
理大常務及學務副校長黃永德教授日前率領代表團出訪中亞，隨香港特區政府代表團訪問哈薩克及烏茲別克。在行政長官李家超的見證下，理大與當地頂尖院校交換了多份合作備忘錄（MoUs），在「一帶一路」倡議的框架下積極擴大理大在全球的影響力🌍🤝。

在首站哈薩克，理大代表團成功與當地頂尖的納扎爾巴耶夫大學交換合作備忘錄，雙方將致力促進學生交流項目，同時推動「絲綢之路大學聯盟」成員之間的協作。與此同時，代表團透過特區政府主辦的經貿商務活動，積極與當地學術領袖建立聯繫，持續拓展理大的國際網絡🌐。

此外，代表團亦透過是次中亞之行，深化與烏茲別克的學術協作。理大與當地El-Yurt Umidi基金會深化了合作夥伴關係，將為該國政府人員提供網絡安全、機器人和無人機系統等專業培訓，並聯合設立獎學金以資助當地優秀高中生入讀理大本科；同時亦與新烏茲別克斯坦大學達成協議，加強教育聯繫🌟。

PolyU recently participated in NAFSA 2026 in Orlando, one of the world's premier international education conferences💡✈️.

Throughout the week, the delegation engaged in strategic discussions to strengthen ties with valued partners and explore new collaborations with potential institutions, expanding PolyU’s global reach and enriching students’ international learning experiences🎓.

A highlight of the event was a small-scale appreciation luncheon hosted in Orlando by PolyU’s delegation. It provided a wonderful opportunity to gather with esteemed partners in a close setting, express sincere gratitude for their ongoing support, and discuss future collaborative initiatives💡.

The meaningful connections established during NAFSA 2026 resulted in a remarkably successful week for the university. Moving forward, PolyU remains committed to connecting with both current and potential partners on upcoming occasions, working together to advance the future of global education🎉.

【理大 x 中銀香港「築造未來」月球機械人設計比賽大成功🌕】
由理大與教育局合辦、中銀香港贊助的理大x中銀香港太空主題計劃「築造未來：國際月球科研站機械人」，旨在啟發中學生對太空科學及工程的興趣，實踐運用STEM知識。

計劃重點活動之一的「月球機械人設計比賽」頒獎典禮於日前舉行，現場近 200 位師生與專家出席，見證得獎學生團隊如何將創意帶到月球。本次比賽共吸引大灣區 52 間中學及國際學校參加。同學們發揮 STEM 知識與創意，設計具科研理據支持、能於月球南極進行科研探索的機械人方案 ，表現備受專家評審讚賞！

恭喜以下三隊得獎隊伍🎊︰
🥇冠軍：培僑書院
提出仿生六足機械人方案，具備適應複雜地貌、自主採掘及3D列印功能，有效支援月球基建。
🥈亞軍：德望學校
設計多機械人協作系統，透過基地、運輸車及探測器分工，克服單一機械人局限 。
🥉季軍：香港墨爾文國際學校
構思以熱能發電機驅動的探測機械人，配備光學雷達，適合於永久陰影區執行長期勘探。

理大跨學科團隊曾多次參與嫦娥探月及天問一號等國家重大航天任務，未來會透過將於今年成立的理大航空航天高等研究院（PARA），進一步鞏固在深空探測的世界級卓越地位，並持續推廣科普教育，致力為國家及香港培育下一代航天科技人才。

【PolyU x BOCHK "Building the Future: Robotics for the International Lunar Research Station” Lunar Robot Design Competition a Grand Success🌕】
Jointly organised by PolyU and the Education Bureau, and sponsored by the Bank of China (Hong Kong) (BOCHK), the PolyU x BOCHK space-themed programme "Building the Future: Robotics for the International Lunar Research Station" aims to inspire secondary school students' interest in space science and engineering while putting STEM knowledge into practice.

As one of the programme's flagship activities, the award presentation ceremony for the Lunar Robot Design Competition was held recently, bringing together nearly 200 experts, teachers, and students to witness how the winning teams brought their creativity all the way to the moon. The competition attracted 52 secondary and international schools across the Greater Bay Area. Combining STEM knowledge with innovation, students designed scientifically backed robot proposals for exploration of the lunar south pole, earning high praise from the expert panel of judges!

Big congratulations to the three winning teams🎊:
🥇 Champion: Pui Kiu College
Proposed a bionic hexapod robot designed to navigate complex terrain, complete with autonomous excavation and 3D printing capabilities to effectively support lunar infrastructure engineering.
🥈 First runner-up: Good Hope School
Designed a "multi-robot collaborative system" that utilises a base station, transport vehicle, and jumper detector to break through the limitations of a single robot through clear division of labor.
🥉 Second runner-up: Malvern College Hong Kong
Developed an exploration robot powered by a radioisotope thermoelectric generator. Equipped with a LiDAR system, it is tailor-made for long-term exploration and survey missions in the lunar south pole's permanently shadowed regions.

PolyU’s interdisciplinary teams have a proud track record of participating in major national space missions, including the Chang'e lunar exploration and Tianwen-1 Mars missions. Moving forward, PolyU will launch the PolyU Aerospace Research Academy this year to further solidify its world-class excellence in deep space exploration, promote science education, and dedicate itself to nurturing the next generation of aerospace talents for Hong Kong and the nation.

PolyU recently participated in the first edition of the France-Hong Kong Universities Forum in Paris, marking a significant milestone in its ongoing commitment to fostering internationalisation and global engagement 🌍🤝.
Co-organised by the Consulate General of France in Hong Kong and Macao, France Universités, Hong Kong’s University Grants Committee (UGC), and the Heads of Universities Committee’s Standing Committee on Internationalisation (HUCOMSCI), the event aimed to provide a long-term structure for strategic academic cooperations. A major highlight for PolyU was the official signing of a Letter of Intent between Hong Kong institutions and France Universités, cementing PolyU’s shared dedication to promoting global academic exchange and collaborative research 🌍📚.

The comprehensive two-day programme featured expert panel discussions on business innovation, health sciences, and Artificial intelligence, with Prof. Ben Young, our Vice President (Student and Global Affairs), representing PolyU on the AI-driven innovation panel to share PolyU’s institutional vision. The delegation also conducted visits to France's top-notch research institutions, including the Académie des Sciences, the National Institute of Health and Medical Research (INSERM), the National School of Decorative Arts (ENSAD), and the National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS).

來自中國香港的Anson，現於醫療及社會科學院修讀眼科視光學，分享如何透過多元交流及海外服務，拓展國際視野，掌握實用技能，並加深了對社會責任的認識🌿。

「理大為我提供了豐富的機會，讓我探索世界、發揮潛能，特別是暑期交流計劃和具意義的海外視力篩查項目🎁。

暑假期間，我曾分別在南韓和德國生活一個月。這些交流經歷讓我接觸到不同背景的朋友，分享香港獨特的文化，同時學習他們的多元思維。擁抱文化差異，當中的每一刻都非常寶貴🤝🏻。

Anson, an Optometry student at the Faculty of Health and Social Sciences from Hong Kong, China, shares how his diverse exchange experiences and overseas service have enriched his global outlook and equipped him with practical skills and a strong sense of social responsibility🌿.

“PolyU has provided me with ample opportunities to explore the world and unleash my potential, especially through summer exchange programmes and meaningful overseas vision screening projects🎁.

During my summer breaks, I spent a month each in South Korea and Germany. I engaged with friends from diverse backgrounds, shared Hong Kong’s unique culture, and learned from diverse perspectives. Embracing cultural differences made every moment truly rewarding🤝🏻.

Beyond academic exchanges, I also had the opportunity to serve communities abroad. In the Philippines and Tanzania, I worked alongside local university students to conduct vision screenings for local residents and raise their awareness about eye health. These hands-on experiences highlighted the critical importance of early vision care👀. PolyU has empowered me to see the world with new eyes and contribute meaningfully to society🏡.”

Yuen Kai, an Applied Biology with Biotechnology graduate at the Faculty of Science from the Chinese Mainland, shares how PolyU’s diverse research and internship opportunities have laid a solid foundation for his future academic and career development✨.

"PolyU’s Undergraduate Research and Innovation Scheme (URIS) not only gave me hands-on research experience, but also deepened my understanding of research spirit and methodology through a series of seminars. I was also honoured to present my research findings at conferences and engage with scholars🤝🏻.

Additionally , I participated in an overseas internship at Harvard University, where I learned various experimental techniques, actively took part in seminars, and connected with outstanding students from around the world, greatly expanding my horizons. The intellectual and cultural exchanges have had a profound impact on my academic development🔭.

💰PolyU also offers students abundant scholarships and support. During my studies, I received a scholarship from the HKSAR Government, was listed on the Dean’s Honour List, and was awarded the URIS Scholarship. These honours not only recognised my efforts, but also motivated me to pursue academic excellence. After graduation, I will continue my studies in Hong Kong and pursue a doctoral degree, looking forward to making more breakthroughs in different academic fields in the future🎓."
