The 2026 China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week was held in Guiyang, China, from 28 July to 2 August 2026. During the event, Prof. Geoffrey Shen, Associate Vice President (Global Partnerships), delivered a keynote speech at the High-level Internationalized Talents Forum, hosted by the China Center for International People-to-People Exchange of the Ministry of Education of China🤝.

In his address, Prof. Shen outlined PolyU’s strategic framework for preparing students to thrive in an increasingly interconnected and technology-driven global landscape. He highlighted how PolyU integrates interdisciplinary curricula, innovative education technology, and global learning opportunities to equip students with future-ready skills and professional competence💡.

Co-produced by PolyU and 2ac Australian Chinese Radio, the cross-ocean exclusive interview series "Technology in Daily Life" featuring our distinguished scholars is now officially on air! 🎙️

Hosted by PolyU alumnus Mr. Ka-fai CHAN, JP, this star-studded programme features 12 distinguished PolyU scholars. They will take turns to share their cutting-edge research achievements across the four major aspects of daily life—clothing, food, housing, and mobility—in an easy-to-understand way, covering:

The marked its successful conclusion with a vibrant closing dinner party on July 30, bringing together approximately 380 undergraduate students from 20 countries and regions. Prof. Ben Young, Vice President (Student and Global Affairs), also joined the gathering and delivered a warm address, celebrating the completion of the programme and the global friendships built among the students✨🤝.

Excitement filled the night with a showcase of Chinese instrumental music, K-Pop dance performances, juggling and talented student performances 🤹‍♀️♀️🎤, highlighting the rich cultural diversity of the International Summer School. Amidst a lively atmosphere, everyone gathered to watch the official highlight video, reliving the wonderful moments and capping off the summer with lasting memories🌈⛱️.

We are deeply delighted to see the enriching learning experiences gained by our students and look forward to welcoming next year’s global cohort for their rewarding and unforgettable cultural exchange journey at PolyU 😊📚!

PolyU recently concluded a landmark internationalisation visit across Nepal, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka, reinforcing our commitment to global partnerships, cultural exchange, and student recruitment across South Asia🏢. Led by Council Chairman Dr Lam Tai-fai and Vice President (Student and Global Affairs) Prof. Ben Young, the delegation visited Chinese embassies, leading universities and Confucius Institutes hosted by these universities in Kathmandu, Dhaka, and Colombo, and met with secondary school leaders and students🎓.

The visit reflects PolyU's ongoing efforts to strengthen its international presence, develop meaningful institutional partnerships, and promote Chinese language and culture on the world stage. We look forward to fostering new collaborations ahead✨.

🌍深化全球聯繫：理大南亞國際化訪問🤝
理大代表團近日走訪尼泊爾、孟加拉及斯里蘭卡，該團由校董會主席林大輝博士及副校長（學生及環球事務）楊立偉教授率領，進一步彰顯理大推動全球夥伴合作、文化交流及學生招募工作的承諾🏢。代表團先後到訪位於加德滿都、達卡及科倫坡的中國大使館、知名大學及由相關大學承辦的孔子學院，與多所中學領導層和學生交流，進一步深化理大與各地的聯繫🎓。

With summer at its peak, is well underway! Beyond the classroom, students from around the globe are diving into Hong Kong’s diverse culture through a series of immersive local tours and inspiring enrichment activities💡🎯.

One standout highlight was the scenic day trip to Lamma Island🏖️🏝️. Escaping the city’s hustle and bustle, students unwound in a serene natural environment while discovering a different side of Hong Kong. They explored historic landmarks like the traditional Tin Hau Temple and the wartime Kamikaze Caves, alongside the beautiful Lo So Shing Beach and vibrant Sok Kwu Wan Main Street. As a delicious treat during the tour, they savoured a sumptuous seafood feast, fully embracing the authentic fishing village vibes⛵🎣!

From stunning island adventures to hands-on craft discovery, the excitement continued with the Creative Mahjong Tiles Colouring Workshop🀄🎨, where students delved into the rich history behind Hong Kong-style mahjong. Unleashing their creativity, they marvelled at the intricate craftsmanship up close before customising their own tiles with vibrant colours—a cherished memento of this unforgettable summer🎁✨!

Spanning July and August, the International Summer School kicked off with a vibrant Orientation Day! Students were warmly welcomed by Mr Gavin Ngai, Deputy Director of Global Engagement, before diving into a series of interactive ice-breaking games that turned strangers into friends🤝✨.

An exciting line-up of activities is set to follow! In addition to taking credit-bearing academic courses at PolyU, students will also step beyond the classroom to explore Hong Kong’s unique history and culture through local cultural tours and a wide range of enrichment activities. By tasting local delicacies and admiring the stunning views of Victoria Harbour, they will immerse themselves in the city’s boundless energy, while broadening their international perspectives and creating lasting summer memories🌈🌆.

PolyU Shines on the Global Stage for Sustainability Impact 🌱

PolyU shines in the Times Higher Education (THE) Sustainability Impact Ratings 2026, clinching 52nd spot globally and second in Hong Kong! These commendable results affirm the University’s steadfast commitment to advancing sustainable development.

The ranking evaluated the performance of 1,646 universities worldwide in achieving the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) across four key areas: research, stewardship, outreach and teaching.

PolyU demonstrated strong performance across multiple indicators, ranking: ❤️First among local universities and 44th globally for “Good Health and Well-being” (SDG 3) ♻️ Second in Hong Kong and 40th globally for “Responsible Consumption and Production” (SDG 12) 🏗️ Third in Hong Kong and 51st globally for “Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure” (SDG 9)
