St. John's College was founded in 1912 and it was the first residential hall in the University. We emphasize that "the College is more than a hall of residence".

"College" better represent our mission - a College is the gathering together of a body scholars for the formation of human character through sports and cultural activities, and the pursuit of academic excellence through discipline study and open discussions.

🎉
Our reunion dinner was successfully held at the HKU Zhangjiang Base in Zhangjiang Science City on 31 May.

St. John’s alumni based in Shanghai gathered in the newly opened HKU Senior Common Room, alongside 35 undergraduates visiting Shanghai for a study tour. It was a wonderful and wholesome evening, with alumni sharing their life and career experiences, and enthusiastic students eager to learn from them and connect.

After dinner, everyone introduced themselves, followed by networking between current St. Johnians and our alumni. Thank you to all alumni, students, and supporters—looking forward to the connections and inspiration we will take from this memorable night. 💜💟

We extend our sincere gratitude to Ms. Joanna Yuen, Managing Director at Live Nation (Hong Kong) Ltd., for being our guest speaker at the end of Term High Table. Her insightful speech offered valuable perspectives on the evolving landscape of live events and entertainment, emphasising the opportunities and challenges currently faced by industry professionals.
This last High Table of the semester, in addition to bidding farewell to the final-year students, also provides an opportunity to present a new scholarship - the “James and Michelle Memorial (JMMS*) Scholarship”. We are delighted to announce that Ms. Cheng Pui Kiu, Zelda has been awarded this year's JMMS Scholarship, the first recipient of this meaningful award with HKD5,000. Zelda, a Year 4 student in 8F Science & Law, has demonstrated outstanding leadership and dedication through her roles as Hockey and Athletic Captain, Choir Master and YSOC Chair. Her commitment, responsibility, and kindness have earned her this well-deserved recognition. Congratulations to Zelda!
We encourage all St. Johnians to continue striving for excellence and to reach their full potential. VIVA~

We were deeply honoured to have Professor Lau Chak-sing, BBS, JP, Dean of Medicine, HKU Vice-President and Pro-Vice Chancellor (Health), as our distinguished guest speaker. His insightful talk, “Innovations and Challenges in Medical Education and Research,” shed light on how shifting demographics are changing disease patterns, and on how the evolution of medical technology must keep pace. The Q&A session that followed was equally inspiring—Professor Lau shared from his own journey, leaving us all with much to reflect on. 🩺📚
What made the night even more special was the presence of our MBBS alumni who joined us, bringing together doctors from different eras under one roof. Old photos, familiar faces, and cherished memories—an uplifting reminder that SJC will always be your home.
Last but not least, 28 student leaders from Dream Compassioneers joining us for this special High Table, adding energy and fresh perspectives to the evening. It was truly inspiring to see our community come together in the spirit of service and learning.

On 23 March, we were honoured to welcome Mr. Felix Tham as our guest speaker, who shared his inspiring journey in “From Stroke to Stage: Reinventing Life through Music and Resilience.” His story reminded us that life has its ups and downs, and that physical and mental well-being are of utmost importance. Through his personal experience, he demonstrated how to face challenges with courage and grace. 🎶💪 Here you can know more about Felix’s story: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1dDvSZlYJiI
🤩It was especially touching to welcome back our LAW alumni; we were truly moved to see our 10F alumna, Ms Phillis Loh, now District Judge at the Judiciary District Court, return with her St. John’s mentees from the Faculty of Law over the years. It is always our privilege to have dedicated alumni paving the way to success.
🎵Additionally, we extend our heartfelt thanks to the Choir team for their beautiful performance, which added warmth and soul to the evening. ✨
Here’s to resilience, to connection, and to the legacy we build together. 💫
