𝐒𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐬, 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬 𝐰𝐞 𝐚𝐥𝐦𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐩𝐚𝐬𝐬 𝐛𝐲.

When Daisy first came across an internship opening at 𝐌𝐚𝐝 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐋𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐝 (Mad Head) on the HKUST job board, her initial reaction was hesitation. The daily commute to Science Park seemed daunting, and her first thought was, “Maybe not.”

Thankfully, she decided to take a chance and hit “𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐲.”

That simple decision led to a summer filled with learning, growth, meaningful friendships, and exciting discoveries.

As an AI & Graphic Design Intern, Daisy experienced what it takes to bring an idea from concept to reality. She contributed to the development of a dictionary search app while strengthening both her technical and design skills along the way.

Yet her biggest takeaway wasn't just about coding or design. It was gaining confidence in her own ideas, learning how to collaborate across teams, and discovering a passion for creating user-centered products.

Looking back, what stands out most are often the 𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬: sharing lunch with colleagues, working in a supportive and encouraging environment, and feeling a sense of belonging from day one.

Who knew that an unplanned arrival at HKUST would turn into a 5-year journey that's been nothing short of remarkable? 🤩 Originally planning for America, my path took an unexpected turn right to Hong Kong! Starting without a declared major, I’ve ended up graduating with FOUR: Computer Science, Data Science & Technology, Mathematics, and General Business Management! 🤯 Talk about an unexpected turn!

My path wasn't linear – it was a beautiful exploration. From an initial foray into Economics research that wasn't the right fit, to diving deep into CS, and then embracing the Dual Degree Program (DDP). 𝐇𝐊𝐔𝐒𝐓 𝐠𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐦𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐫𝐲, 𝐭𝐨 𝐟𝐚𝐢𝐥, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐥 𝐈 𝐟𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐦𝐲 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐞. 🙏

But the real magic? The people. 🥰 I initially thought making friends during COVID would be tough, especially with limited classroom interactions. But my "broken" Cantonese and Mandarin opened doors to incredible friendships that made HKUST feel like home. You are my HKUST family! ❤️

This is more than just academics. It’s about the friendships that turned a surprise into a home, and the research that led to an ICLR paper and a sponsored trip to Brazil! ✈️

We were thrilled to host over 50 school counsellors on our campus for a meaningful and insightful luncheon! Beyond just an admissions sharing session, this was a valuable opportunity for school counsellors and our HKUST admissions representatives to 𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫, 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐚𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐮𝐬𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬.
