【Every Moment Matters ✨ New Approach to Early Years at ESF】

The time your child spends in the classroom is a unique opportunity to find their passions, harness new skills and develop a love of learning. Our new K1 to Y13 through-train allows them to make the most of every single moment.

Starting this September, all ESF kindergartens will, for the first time, be directly linked with ESF primary schools. Families who apply for a K1 kindergarten place in the 2027/28 school year will be offered a guaranteed place for their child at one of the linked primary schools.

Further details regarding our strategic new approach to early years education and the Associated School Model can be accessed via our website:

🗓️ Save the Dates: June 17–21! 🗓️

Join us at Hong Kong City Hall for this year's ESF Art Exhibition. We're showcasing over 150 incredible paintings, sculptures, and mixed-media pieces by our students, from Pre-K to Year 13, as ESF Explore joins the exhibition for the first time with a collaborative artwork.

This year's theme is "Tomorrow." It's all about looking ahead and dreaming of what’s next. Our young artists have stepped away from the "here and now" to imagine a future state that sparks wonder and curiosity.

Through their work, they invite you to explore a variety of brilliant visions. The exhibition brings together personal journeys, thoughtful perspectives on our planet’s future, and imaginative leaps into how life and technology might look centuries from today. ✨

Bring your friends and family along to the exhibition and see what the future holds! 👋

Join us as we relive the best highlights from across the ESF community recently!

We are proud to announce the debut of the first-ever ESF Chinese Debate Team! Students from ESF Sha Tin College, ESF Island School, and ESF South Island School represented the Foundation at the prestigious Hong Kong "Zongheng Cup" on April 19th. The team demonstrated exceptional skill and quick thinking in two intense rounds against Yew Chung International School and Wa Ying College. Special congratulations go to our two students who were named "Best Debater" for their outstanding performances. This competition was not just a match, but a significant milestone in our students' linguistic and analytical growth. We look forward to seeing this team reach even greater heights in the future!

Community Spirit at ESF Glenealy School was high at the International Family Day. Their energy made the celebration truly special. The day was packed with joy, starting with a high-energy "Wake and Shake" led by their Y6 dancers, followed by a wonderful whole-school picnic and an afternoon of fantastic community-run workshops.

The TED x Youth "Lost and Found" event at ESF Sha Tin College was an absolute masterclass in perspective. Attendees were taken on a journey from the microscopic world of atoms to global discussions on cultural identity and language diversity. A huge thank you to their six incredible student speakers and guest teacher for sharing their profound insights on what it means to lose, search, and be found.

The stage came alive this week as Y11 ESF Discovery College students presented their production of She Kills Monsters. Transporting the audience from 90s Ohio straight into a fantastical D&D world, the entirely student-led performance had friends and family laughing, gasping, and cheering from the edge of their seats. We are incredibly proud of the brilliant theatre-makers they have become!

The Hillside “Quality Control” team is officially on the job! 👷‍♂️🎨

We invited a guest mural artist to campus, but our students had a few ideas of their own. This stop-motion journey captures it all—from curious first looks 👀 to the inevitable "oops" moments 😅.

We learned that painting with kindergarteners is 10% planning and 90% pure magic. ✨

Come see the masterpiece for yourself at Hillside! 📍

The sky is the limit.

One stage. 12 schools. 900 young performers. Hundreds of voices and instruments altogether performing at Queen Elizabeth Stadium.

This isn’t just a concert. It’s a collision of discipline and soul. From the first note of the orchestra to the final lift of the choir, our primary students aren’t just playing notes, they’re commanding the air. They aren’t waiting for the future. They are the future.

Across 12 ESF primary schools, we’ve found the rhythm of community. We’ve found the power of belonging. And we’ve found that when our voices and instruments become one, there are no ceilings.

The stage is set. The limit doesn’t exist.

Witness the magic of the ESF Primary Choir and Orchestra Concert. Get your tickets now through the link in bio.

"Where is education going?"

Anna Smakowska thinks we’re moving toward a skills-first world, but she’s not ready to let go of the "why." If we don’t understand history and context, we can’t make sound decisions on our own. It’s about finding that sweet spot between being independent and being well-informed.

What makes a school truly thrive?

For Anna Smakowska, it’s not just about the curriculum; it’s about the vision. If we aren't intentional about our relationships and our interactions, the best-laid plans will fall short.

Anna explores the balance between teaching deep knowledge and fostering independence, reminding us that at the heart of education is a simple goal: every child feeling happy, engaged, and genuinely learning.

📚 Eight primary schools recently competed in the ESF Primary Chinese Battle of Books, demonstrating exceptional knowledge of Chinese literature. After three intense rounds of competition, we congratulate ESF CWBS for securing first place, followed by ESF Bradbury School in second, and ESF Kowloon Junior School in third.

💙 ESF Island School's Nansen House successfully hosted its annual Charity Week to support Baiwan and Habitat for Humanity. Through a dynamic range of activities—including a biathlon, karaoke, and a carnival — students raised significant funds and awareness for affordable housing initiatives across the Asia-Pacific region.

✍️ Students at ESF Peak School Hong Kong were inspired by visits from two renowned authors last week. Year 4 explored financial literacy and the world of money with Rashmi Sirdeshpande, while Year 6 gained a global perspective from Ann Morgan, who shared her journey of reading a book from every country in the world.

⚽ The U20 Boys football team at ESF West Island School displayed remarkable grit and sportsmanship during a recent high-pressure match. Beyond the final score, the team’s resilience and collective effort exemplified the school's commitment to developing character and leadership through competitive sport.
