We love this Upper Primary tradition! Students sign the back of the PE Posters for departing faculty members. It's a great way for students to say goodbye and create a sweet HKIS memento for their teachers. You will be missed!

🌮✨ A Delicious Celebration of Spanish & Latin Flavors! ✨🍮
The Middle School Spanish classes brought culture and cuisine to life at the Spanish & Latin Food Festival! Intermediate students showcased their culinary skills and cultural learning by learning a recipe in Spanish, recreating it on film, and designing a marketing poster to advertise it. Students filled the space with homemade creations that they introduced in Spanish to hungry visitors.

Guests enjoyed a mouthwatering spread, including:
🔥 sizzling carne asada tacos
🥑 fresh, homemade guacamole
🥔 crispy, flavorful patatas bravas
🍳 classic tortilla de patata
🌭 savory choripán
🍰 rich Basque cheesecake
🍮 smooth and creamy flan
🍩 sweet, golden churros
🍹 refreshing drinks like horchata, piña colada, and morir soñando

Students not only prepared and served these dishes but also shared the stories and traditions behind them, creating a truly immersive cultural experience.

⚡️Grade 4 Maker Fair Recap!
The big guiding question for the fair this year was: How can I design a device that converts energy from one form to another?

Students explored energy transformation through a UDL approach—building access, offering choices, and strengthening student agency with an HKIS Design Cycle–scaffolded planner (imagine → create → inquire → improve → reflect). They also had special time in the STEM Lab to explore the technologies they’d use at Maker Fair.

Sustainability was built in from the start—students learned to maximize reusable/upcycled materials, consider the environmental impact of adhesives, and even took on class sustainability challenges like tracking waste and reducing harmful materials.

It was a brilliant mix of creativity, learning, and responsibility!
