Last week, 22 of our brilliant Y8–Y13 musicians hit the stage at Tsuen Wan Town Hall for ‘A Night at the Movies’! From Orchestra to Jazz Band, Choir to Concert Band, our students showcased incredible skill after months of hardworking preparation.

Special thanks to our amazing music team—Mr. Crichton, Mr. Papanastasiou, and Mr. Jolly—for guiding our students every step of the way! 🎶

We couldn’t be prouder of everyone involved! 👏 ❤️

✨Brace yourselves, South Island School community—50 years of excellence, growth, and incredible memories are just around the corner! That’s right: in 2027, SIS will officially be celebrating our 50th Anniversary (1977–2027)!

To kick off the celebrations, Here is our official logo that will define this milestone year!

A massive congratulations to Ryan P. (Year 10), the official winner of our 50th Anniversary Logo Design Competition!

Ryan’s winning design (featured on page 2) seamlessly blends our signature school colors and chevron identity into a dynamic “50 Years” mark spanning 1977 to 2027. Swipe over to check out Ryan receiving his certificate of excellence and see the official logo up close!

Last Friday, we had the pleasure of welcoming ESF CEO Belinda Greer to South Island School! During her visit, Ms. Greer toured our campus and dropped in to see our Year 7 students in action—and safe to say, our youngest learners truly blew her away. 🔬📚

From demonstrating sharp predictive reasoning and clear scientific explanations in Science to dissecting vivid verbs and dynamic movement for dialogue in English, Year 7 showed up with curiosity, passion, and top-tier critical thinking.

Huge congratulations to our Year 7s for representing SIS so brilliantly!

“You get to live a thousand lives as a filmmaker.”

Each year, the South Island Film and Media department selects two students to enter the Hall of Fame—and to kick off our new Alumni Series, we’re spotlighting Alison Thomas! 🌟

Part of the Class of 2011, Alison studied IB Film with teacher Iain Williamson, who remembers her as an absolute natural from day one:

“She walked into IB Film without having studied the subject before and we were immediately aware that she was a special talent. She has an eye for aesthetics, is an outstanding editor and composed her own music for her IB Films!”

Since graduating from Bournemouth University, Alison has forged a successful global career in film, founding her own production company, Scene 852, in Hong Kong and London.

At the 2026 SIS Film and Media Awards, she shared some invaluable words of advice for current students looking to break into creative industries.

Our Year 12 cohort has delivered outstanding IGCSE results, showcasing exceptional dedication, growth, and talent across the entire school.

This year, 58% of alphabetical grades reached A*/A and 66% of numerical grades achieved 9–7, with pass rates topping 94% overall! We saw particularly stellar performances across World Literature, Mathematics, Global Citizenship, Music, and Chinese Foreign Language.

Behind these brilliant numbers are confident young adults who balanced academic rigor with personal growth, resilience, and leadership. A huge thank you to our dedicated teachers, supportive families, and hardworking students for making the entire South Island School community proud as they embark on their IB Diploma and Career-related Programmes!
