Going away for university is exciting! Luckily, for Cara, when her family announced their plans to relocate to Arizona, she found it to be the perfect opportunity to go away for school, all while having her family nearby. Given the things that Cara looks most forward when she thinks about her move to the sunset state, you’d immediately know where she comes from. As someone who was born and raised in Winnipeg, Cara can’t wait to have year-long summers, smooth roads to drive on, and of course, fresh fruit to enjoy in the sun.

Earlier this year, Cara learned that she was the recipient of a New American University Scholarship from Arizona State University. This scholarship is awarded to incoming undergraduate students who show exceptional academic talents. In the fall, Cara will be starting her first year in biomedicine at ASU with her family less than an hour’s drive away.

“It’s the community here, that’s what I am going to miss most about, SJR” says Cara. Since starting at the School in Grade 9, Cara has been playing hockey and making a lot of life-long friends, who she doesn’t look forward to saying goodbye to. But, given the vast network of alumni, who are spread around the world, Cara is confident that she will have remain strongly connected to her classmates and the greater SJR community, both past and present.

If we’re lucky, we can also look forward to Cara’s visits, perhaps for alumni hockey nights at Dutton. Home is always here, Cara. Congratulations!

Our sea-swimmers were back out on the water today, enjoying the last swim of term. Here is their triumphant picture having finally reached France, after almost 14 hours of swimming via relay in hour-long increments throughout the night.

This morning, a large group of new sea-swimmers joined in with the early-morning sea swim on Brighton beach at 7am, inspired to try it out!

Meet Jemima! ⛵️
In recognition of her incredible dedication to the sport and extraordinary talent, Jemima, L6, has been appointed Sherborne Girls first ever Captain of Sailing.
