We love in-person learning sessions, however, the reality is that it is often not possible. Our recent evening programme on empowering self-esteem brought together close to 80 migrant domestic workers from the Filipino, Indonesian, and Nepali communities, through facilitated exercises that helped clarify self-esteem, recognize what might diminish it in daily life, and establish actionable steps to strengthen it.

Not only were we able to deliver this session with participants who were dialing in on their own, but to residents at the Bethune House Migrant Women's Refuge in Hong Kong, underlining the importance of learning and the power that technology can bring.

Thank you to Mission For Migrant Workers Johannie Tong and Joy Prim for the invitation to Next Chapters to deliver this exciting session!

This was such a great afternoon of supporting the Community Leaders of HELP for Domestic Workers. Bringing out the stories from within us to support others is such an important skill to have as it can create incredible change in our lives and in those of others. Next Chapters is grateful for the opportunity to partner with organizations to be able to allow for that growth and development to happen and for people to thrive!

Over 15 community leaders from our C-LeaPS (Community Leadership and Peer-support) Programme were trained on storytelling to promote communication, understanding and collaboration among the community.

This training helped the community leaders feel more empowered and more comfortable voicing their own experiences. They were taught how to use their personal experiences with other domestic workers in a way that engages them to share openly and seek support.

We are grateful to Christina Themar from Next Chapters for conducting the workshop and engaging with our community leaders. We are also grateful to IOM Hong Kong SAR, China Sub-office 聯合國移民署 for their support in sponsoring the training.

Next Chapters proudly delivered a 3-hour workshop for the Community Leaders of HELP for Domestic Workers on Impactful Storytelling. Through our collaboration, we supported the empowerment of migrant domestic workers to share their stories as an exercise for themselves, but also to develop the skill of storytelling to leverage the personal resource of stories to educate, inspire, and empower others.

Special thanks to Nicole Bernas (she/her) and Katarina Siena Koesmajadi-Husson and the team at HELP and the support of IOM - UN Migration to help coordinate this motivational learning experience for the migrant domestic worker community.
