At Jing Jing Kindergarten, our team of Early Childhood Educators believes that creating warm and welcoming spaces is key to supporting the unique diversity among our children. We strive to teach them the value of individuality and how our differences make us all special. When children learn to embrace who they are and appreciate others, it fosters confidence, self-esteem, and an understanding attitude. This week, we’ve turned our focus to inclusivity and the beauty of our differences. The children have had so much fun exploring what sets them apart. They experimented with colours to create beautiful crafts as a class, shared stories about their families, and what makes everyone different, drew self-portraits, and reflected on what makes them unique. On Friday, our school burst with colour as the children proudly wore their favourite outfits, showcasing what makes them feel special and confident. It’s truly heartwarming to see their joy and self-expression!

During our weekly cookery class, the children not only learn to bake and cook but they also have numerous opportunities to engage in sensory activities. Sensory play is vital for young children as it fosters brain connections, aids emotional regulation, and enhances motor skills. Engaging with playdough brings a wealth of benefits. It helps improve physical abilities and sparks creativity, both of which are essential during early childhood. By manipulating the playdough—squeezing and rolling it—children develop their fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. Additionally, playdough allows them to express their thoughts and ideas by crafting various shapes and figures. This interactive activity encourages imagination. Overall, playdough play contributes significantly to children’s physical growth and creativity, setting a strong foundation for more complex learning as they continue to develop.

This week has been a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our dedicated caregivers and helpers. Our students took the time to show their love and appreciation for those who play essential roles in their daily lives. They invited these incredible individuals to school for morning tea and engaged in meaningful conversations throughout the week about the many ways they support us. Each student prepared thoughtful gifts and cards as tokens of thanks. We especially want to acknowledge our hardworking custodial staff—Auntie Eva, Auntie Kelly, and Auntie Pinky—who tirelessly maintain our facilities and ensure a clean and safe atmosphere for everyone. Their commitment is crucial in keeping our community healthy. Additionally, we extend a heartfelt thank you to our Bus Auntie, Amy, and Bus Uncle, Cow, for safely transporting our students to and from school each day. We are truly grateful to have such a supportive community surrounding us!
