Live from DTIA. Brilliant views from the National Library!
We kicked off this morning with sessions from DBS, Johnson & Johnson, Cathay Pacific and Futurice on Design Thinking in Business.
Some quotes we captured from the morning sessions:
"We recognize that the best outcomes for customers don't always involve a DBS screen." - Mark Evans on DBS' path to business and cultural transformation through Design Thinking
"Is current customer knowledge only focused on the today? What about designing for emergent needs and future horizons?" - Lillian Shieh on embedding design thinking in large organisations: growing pains, and two debates.
"We have a moral duty to factor in the impact of our work." - Alex Crowfoot on sustainability canvases as part of his open source toolkit
Thanks, Design Business Chamber Singapore, DesignSingapore for the support!

Designing Your Life Brought To You By DTIA Academy
Venue: National Design Centre, Singapore
Date: Oct 26, 2018
Designers create worlds and solve problems using design thinking. Look around your office or home–at the tablet or smartphone you may be holding or the chair you are sitting in. Everything in our lives was designed by someone. And every design starts with a problem that a designer or team of designers seeks to solve.
Designing Your Life shows us how design thinking can help us create a life that is both meaningful and fulfilling, regardless of who or where we are, what we do or have done for a living, or how young or old we are. The same design thinking responsible for amazing technology, products, and spaces can be used to design and build your career and your life, a life of fulfillment and joy, constantly creative and productive, one that always holds the possibility of surprise.

For the third year, DTIA brings together industry leading practitioners joining in personal capacity for 2 days of highly interactive engagement. This time, industry leading Design Thinking practitioners, educators and thought leaders will gather to discuss and share:
1) Examples of leading Design Thinking application in business
2) Emerging trends of Design Thinking applications
3) Design Thinking for Social Impact
4) Un-conference sessions with sharing from our fellow practitioners
DTIA Practitioner Get-Together is an invite-only, non-profit event for those that have experience in using design thinking/human centric design in their daily work in creating values and solutions.
Our event this year moves from Hong Kong to Singapore with an aim to expand the geographic coverage and build a pan-Asia Design Thinking community. This year’s program is proudly held in partnership with Design Business Chamber Singapore (DBCS) and supported by Design Singapore (DSg) with Singapore as the host city.
This is not just another conference. We aim to foster personal linkage and in-depth conversations. We value quality over quantity among our participants and have limited the number of participants to a maximum of 150 this year.
Registration fee for the 2-day event is US$190 if register by October 5th, and US$250 thereafter. The fee covers the 2 days of event, 2 lunches and a Drink and Canapé session on Day 1. Master Classes will be charged separately at US$100 per workshop.

Design Sprints Proudly Brought To You By Google
Venue: Google, 70 Pasir Panjang Road, Singapore
Design Sprints are a proven process to help answer critical business questions and ensure that you are building the right thing. Learn about Google’s Design Sprint methodology through an experiential workshop. We will cover the 6 phase framework, when to use Sprints and what they can accomplish. You will have the opportunity to apply the process to a local community challenge in order to gain familiarity with the methods and walk away with a set of tools you can incorporate into your product development process.
“Design thinking has historically struggled to gain traction within organizations. At Google, a group of passionate UXers developed the Design Sprint framework to create a structured and effective way to make space for Design Thinking within an engineering focused company. This has transformed the way I work personally as a UX Designer and I am excited to share this experience to help others.” - Kai Haley, Sprint Master Academy, Google
