Last week, we lost a key member of our leadership team. It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Tony Mobbs, our Director of Curriculum and Assessment. Tony only joined our team in August, but he contributed much to our community in the short time that he was at HKIS. We will send out details about a memorial service honoring his life shortly.

We thank you for the sympathy and support. Please keep Tony's family and friends in your thoughts and prayers. Our faculty has lost a bright and dedicated educator.

June 20, is World Refugee Day. UNHCR this year, has joined hands with two other NGOs (Christian Action and Refugee Advice Centre) to organize an advocacy event to give voice to refugees and asylum seekers in Hong Kong. "Speak" is an event organized for the evening of June 20 at the Cabaret Bar at the Fringe Club in Central. On the evening, refugees and asylum seekers will perform music and dramatic pieces and also show photographs they have taken. Speakers from UNHCR, CA and RAC will speak about issues concerning refugees in Hong Kong. It is a chance to give refugees and asylum seekers a platform to showcase their talent and also an opportunity to bring to the forefront issues related to refugee and asylum seekers in Hong Kong. The event will be for 3 hours from 7-10pm on the evening of June 20 and there will be an open bar and canapes served throughout the night. Cost will be $500 before June 1 and $600 after June 1.

Leontine Chuang '93 will be there and she hopes that you can join her to support the refugee cause and to learn a little more about what she has been doing for the last 8 years.
