With deep sorrow, the Sacred Heart Canossian College Alumnae Association shares the passing of Sr. Maria Borella, who returned to the Lord peacefully on 12 June 2026.

Many Sacred Heartists will remember Sr. Mary for her loving care towards the morning prayer leaders, and as the former Superior of Bethany Canossian Convent.

May she rest in the peace and love of God.

Congratulations to our alumna Vivian Chan on being nominated for Best Supporting Actress (Musical) at the 34th Hong Kong Drama Awards for her performance as Yitzhak in Hedwig and the Angry Inch《搖滾芭比》! 🎭

Vivian is also widely known for her role as “鄔玉圓” in the Hong Kong Repertory Theatre musical《大狀王》(The Impossible Trial).

She was previously nominated for Best Supporting Actress (Comedy/Farce) at the 33rd Hong Kong Drama Awards for her performance in 《史家本第二零二四之伏虎降龍》 (Scapin in Jiānghú, Chap. 2024).

The award ceremony will be held on 27 April 2026. We are proud to see Vivian’s continued achievements on stage — let us cheer for her and wish her the very best! 👏✨

Born in Beijing, Alice meandered through three primary schools when in Hong Kong before she settled in Sacred Heart in 1978, in primary 4. Upon graduation from HKU in 1990, she joined the Government as an Administrative Officer and have been a public servant ever since. Over the past 35 years, she ventured into a myriad of policy areas ranging from legal aid, port and logistics, public service broadcasting and municipal services, to external affairs, Hong Kong-Guangdong cooperation and public finance. She also served in the Chief Secretary’s Office and Chief Executive’s Office. Currently, she oversees the full range of labour, welfare and manpower policies.

When she has time to herself, Alice enjoys reading, handicraft, walking and net surfing.

🎓 SHCC 165th Anniversary Symposium – Empowering Learners for the Future 🔬⚙️

As part of its 165th Anniversary celebrations under the theme “From Charity to Legacy”, the School is organising its first-ever Student Symposium on Saturday, 15 November 2025, at Sacred Heart Canossian College, Pokfulam.

The Symposium will feature inspiring keynote talks by Sr Melissa Dwyer, Sr Agnes Law, Ms Vivien Mak, Dr Iris Lau, and Miss Renie Sinn; alongside student presentations, project showcases, and a principals’ forum on Educating with Purpose: The Canossian Way Forward.
