🌟 We have just organized three workshops in collaboration with Hong Kong Society for the Protection of Children (HKSPC) on 9, 11 and 13 of December! Special thanks to Suiming Chu and Tiffany Cheng for giving the children a memorable experience with music and Eurhythmics! We hope to deepen students' understanding of animals and appreciation of nature through various formats and to develop their Social Emotional Learning (SEL) skills. 💚

🔔 With the generous support from Drs. Richard Charles and Esther Yewpick Lee Charitable Foundation, these amazing workshops were made possible. In the coming year, we will also bring activities on various topics. Keep in touch and we would love it if children could be inspired to create art by signing up for the Voices for the Planet 2025 at LumiVoce and visualize the “Magic Sounds” from animals and nature. 🌍

🔔Today is the International Animal Rights Day!

🌍International Animal Rights Day was established to commemorate the fact that animals are alive and deserve the same protection as humans.

💚On this day, we reflect on the exploitation of animal rights, mourn the animal victims of inappropriate human behavior, and mobilize to support the universal rights of animals.

🎵At LumiVoce, we inspire and educate the young to fall in love and protect wildlife and biodiversity through the power of music, arts, and education. As we mark this special day, join us in raising awareness and supporting conservation efforts. Together, we can create a future where orangutans and other wildlife can flourish in their natural habitats. After all, “we protect what we love.”🎨

‘It’s hugely moving’: sea turtle nests in Greece reach record numbers 02/10/2024

Incredible News for Sea Turtles!

After years of tireless conservation efforts, the Caretta caretta sea turtles are making an incredible comeback on the beaches of Zakynthos and across the Mediterranean! This ancient species, which has existed for over 100 million years, is now showing signs of remarkable recovery with record numbers of nests and hatchlings. It’s such a beautiful reminder that when we take action, nature responds.

These sea turtles aren’t just beautiful creatures—they play a vital role in maintaining healthy marine ecosystems. By keeping seagrass beds and coral reefs balanced, they contribute to the overall health of our oceans, which in turn supports countless other species, including us! Their survival is directly tied to the health of our planet.

While it’s heartwarming to witness this resurgence, we can’t let our guard down. These turtles still face significant threats from pollution, discarded plastics, climate change, and the pressures of overtourism. Protecting them means protecting the future of our oceans and our own well-being.

Let’s keep up the momentum! We all have a part to play, whether it’s reducing plastic waste, supporting conservation efforts, or simply spreading awareness. Together, we can ensure that future generations continue to witness the beauty of these majestic sea turtles in the wild.

A recent study revealed that Canada’s 2023 wildfires released 647 megatonnes of carbon—more than the annual emissions of countries like Germany, Japan, and Russia. 🌲🔥 If these fires were a country, they’d be the 4th largest emitter globally, behind only China, India, and the U.S. 🌍 Similarly, the climate crises-induced fires in the Pantanal, the world’s largest wetland, 🌿🔥 have shown how such disasters can devastate critical ecosystems, highlighting the urgent need for global climate action. 🚨🌱

It's crucial to recognize why educating people and addressing climate crises are so vital—they're essential for ensuring the survival of our planet. 🌍🌱 Understanding climate change has a direct impact on biodiversity, the backbone of all ecosystems. 🌳🌼 When people are informed, they are more likely to make choices that reduce their carbon footprint, embrace sustainable practices, and protect our natural world. 🌎💧 Climate-induced disasters like wildfires can destroy habitats and cause significant biodiversity loss. 🐾🔥

By raising awareness and taking action against climate change, we safeguard the rich variety of life and maintain the ecosystems that all living beings, including humans. Here are a few simple steps you can take to make a difference:

🚴‍♀️Lower Your Carbon Footprint by opting for public transport, cycling, or walking.
🌱Promote Reforestation by planting trees or donating to reforestation efforts.
🌿Support Sustainability by choosing eco-friendly products and brands.
📢 Raise Awareness by sharing knowledge about climate change and its effects.

In the face of a relentless drought, Namibia has made the heartbreaking decision to kill elephants for meat. But these magnificent creatures are more than just animals—they are the pillars of biodiversity. Elephants shape ecosystems, helping forests and grasslands thrive, which in turn supports countless other species. 🌳🐘

Yet, their value goes beyond ecology. Elephants are sentient beings, feeling love, loss, and joy just as deeply as we do. They form close-knit families, mourn their lost ones, and even show compassion. Their intelligence and emotional depth challenge us to question our actions.

The issue with our thinking has always been this: we cause environmental, biodiversity, and climate problems through our actions 🌍, and then attempt to fix them by creating even more harm—like killing wildlife and viewing them as mere “resources” 🐘 instead of sentient beings. When conflicts arise between humans and wildlife, we quickly place the blame on the animals. During food shortages, we justify killing them, as if they are competing with us for resources 🌾. Once, millions of elephants roamed the African continent; now only a few hundred thousand remain, yet we still argue there are too many elephants—despite the fact that there are 8.1 billion humans on the planet. This human-centered way of thinking is at the root of the challenges we face today. 🌿

So, WHAT GIVES US THE RIGHT TO HARM THESE INTELLIGENT BEINGS? IS IT TRULY OUR PLACE TO DECIDE WHO LIVES AND WHO DIES? 💔🐘Let’s rethink our relationship with nature and recognize the intrinsic value of all life. If we continue responding to climate crises by killing animals, we trap ourselves in a destructive cycle. It's time to break this pattern. Consider what each of us can do to protect biodiversity and secure a sustainable future 🌱. What steps will you take to protect our planet? 🌍💚
