I’m thrilled to announce London’s first ever studio class dedicated to teaching Functional Hatha Yoga.
Whilst The Functional Approach - developed by Paul Grilley - has been embraced within the Yin Yoga community for a number of years now, there is still a disconnect when it comes to translating these important anatomic principles to more dynamic styles of practice.
This is the class that bridges that gap.
The Functional Approach understands that due to skeletal variation, there can not possibly be one-universal-alignment that works for everybody. When we understand this and learn how to skillfully work with and around our unique variations, the practice becomes safer and more effective for all.
In this class, students will be facilitated in exploring their unique skeletal structure - to find the correct alignment that works for their body – before offering the highly-detailed, Iyengar-informed actions cues that will grant deeper access into any posture.
Each week will offer a different anatomical exploration and biomechanical focus, leading towards an individualised and functionally effective peak pose.
If you’ve ever wondered why some poses are easy to access and others seem impossible - no matter how hard you try - then this is the class for you!
Blending intensity and precision, this asana practice is designed to cultivate strength and body intelligence.
