5款必學詞彙 － 向interesting說不！

1. captivating 著迷；迷住；吸引
With her beauty and charm, she captivated film audiences everywhere.

It's described in the guide book as "an enchanting medieval city".

【DSE 英文學習策略】

心態篇
\
1.不要嘗試分析考題，先了解自己問題
\
千萬不要漫無目的溫習，很多同學一拿起英文筆記或vocabulary book，就第一頁開始溫習，溫到累了，捱不下去就停， 順頁數溫習是成效極低的方法。
\
溫習本質是以自己的思考時間，透過練習、書藉的內容灌輸，藉此提升自己對學習主題的理解，以至熟練性。
\
要令溫習變得更有效率，首先的切入點是「了解自己」，特別是自己的弱點。若果能夠有效針對弱點，就能極速提升自己能力，在考試分數中直接展現出來。
\
例如，Paper 2 Writing中，發現自己在某種題型下（e.g. Part A題目令你手足無措）寫作特別有障礙時，就應先把它視為「首要處理項目」！當你在研究時，會發覺令你手足無措的原因就是它的情景設定及各式各樣的體裁Genre。自然地，溫書就要以這個位置作切入點，溫習格式及寫作手法，參考不同成功的範例。這也是解釋得到為何Miles學生能夠短時間提升英文成績。
\
2.目標定位如何，你的成績也必如何
\
定立目標極度重要，而條件不能夠太貪心。例如今日用一小時溫習Writing，建立思維框架，便集中溫習相關部份，看到一些詞彙或句型，雖然你很想馬上背了它，不過還是最後mark低後就skip。否則就會令學習變得無方向，影響學習。
\
Miles會建議同學先定好短期目標，例如這個星期的目標是「寫作詞彙50個」、「分析Reading pp 2019 B2 錯誤問題」等。慢慢去到「兩個月內Paper 3平均分八成以上」。
\
如果一開始就定立「我要英文5**」、「今日我要搵100個英文生字」、「一個月後我要見到自己升兩個Level」等比較急進的目標，雖然有火，但心理壓力都會很大，由於能力及時間都有限，最終連基本的都可能做不到，如何談進步呢？
\
所以Miles設計一般是按每星期學習量平均分配好教材，亦會給予不同學生的短期及長期目標，令同學能向最終目標有效而持續地進步！
\
3.善用「短期性自律」心理
\
Miles會建議同學限定溫書時間，兩小時便兩小時，一小時便一小時，不能多也不能少。
\
因此，期間關閉手機，要完全集中精神溫習也能有效堅持得到！因為只要捱過了就能馬上玩得電話！
\
限時內未能完成所有溫習範圍？沒所謂啊，起碼連續一或兩小時深入溫習同一範疇，也應該有不錯的進度吧！
\
4.「不能偏食」原則
\
英文範圍非常廣泛，很多同學都出現「偏食」問題，一提起英文學習，就不斷背句背字。
\
建議不要連續溫習近似主題，例如昨天溫了卷一某題型，今天就溫作文某類語文，明天便溫卷三某方面的技巧。Miles每期筆記足料，就是要令同學全方位提升。

雖然同學如果有上堂，
可以一招（絕無誇張，真係睇「一下」就夠）就可以零理解下答中題目，
不過為免令同學依賴技巧而忽視理解本身，（何況對於付了學費的同學造成不公平）
還是正正常常分析下就好！
\
1.Intro 第一段的Idea點睇？
\
Introduction的 Main idea 多數關係到整篇文章，
有時感到迷茫時，不妨留意下 Title / Preview部分，
你會有意想不到嘅驚喜。
\
2.Doubt 睇頭尾句必出答案？
\
如果有做開PP都會知，
根本沒有必然關係。
事實上，
很多時候文章一段只得兩三句，
就如跟你說：「這句成為答案的機會高達50%！」一樣，
沒有太大參考價值。
\
3.Explore keywords 搵到關鍵字出答案？
\
因為問題主要問 Main Idea，
你不會聰明得會認為有機會找到：”My main idea of this paragraph is …”
何況，一般一段只集中討論一個主題，句句都是關係到相同主題，
所以對我們答案判斷沒有太實在的幫助。
\
4.Answer 愈似答案就唔係答案？
MCQ雖然近年出得比較少，
但出現得就代表有陷阱，
字眼與原文相似而扭曲意思，
是基本陷阱。
所以要小心理解MC意思。
要留意的是，相似原文的答案都可以是答案。
一樣，對我們答案判斷沒有太實在的幫助。

老正做法：
\
1)留意 Title / Preview的文字掌握全文重點或目的
\
今題為例，以問題方式出現，帶出Zoos/aquariums是否foster social benefits like education and conservation,
還是send the wrong message to young people。
\
涉及態度上的討論，而且關鍵討論點有：social benefits、education、conservation、wrong message等。（如果是MCQ已經可以篩選答案）
\
2)決定方向
\
涉及態度上的討論，
可以從段中尋找出表情態度的用字。

3)綜合資料，判斷答案

【原理】

Self Account 著重的是 give evidence of your skills and experience或
是show how your experience relates to the subject you are interested in studying。
\
所謂的give evidence 或
demonstrate your skill意思只有一個：
都是要「具體」證明你的經驗跟能力。

【內容】
主要看的是你的transferable skills：
・leadership
・problem solving
・communication
・teamwork
・interpersonal relationship
・client relationship management
・analytical skills

【定義】
S - Situation 情景
所從事崗位期間的背景狀況
・When you did

在其背景環境中所執行的任務與角色
