This week, our K1 children continued exploring the Unit of Inquiry “Who We Are”, focusing on how they use their senses to experience and understand the world around them. Through hands-on activities, the children investigated touch, sight and sound while taking part in movement sessions, circle-time discussions and sensory exploration. They explored water beads by adding water, observing how the beads grew larger and using words such as small, big, bigger, soft, smooth, wet and squishy to describe what they saw and felt. They also created colourful sensory bottles, using their developing fine-motor skills to pick up, transfer and place the materials carefully.
The children further developed their early writing and mathematical thinking by guiding trains along tracks, practising mark-making with erasable whiteboard pens, counting, recognising numbers and exploring one-to-one correspondence. They strengthened their listening and communication skills through group activities, music, movement and classroom routines, while learning to share, take turns and follow instructions. Across the week, the children showed curiosity, concentration and enthusiasm as they connected their sensory experiences with language, early science, mathematics, creativity and physical development. 🚂 💧 🌈 ✏️ ✨
