Careless People pulls back the curtain on how platforms are built to influence — not protect — their users. As AI makes that influence even more personalized, digital literacy has to mean more than "safe screen time."

Our Consulting Head of School, Dr. Helen Wright, breaks down why. Read the full piece: https://dshk.edu.hk/dalton-blog/careless-people/

As we welcome our incoming high school cohort, this is exactly the kind of thinking shaping how we prepare them: not just to use technology, but to question it. 🧠

Building Calm, Confidence, and Academic Success… One Paw at a Time

At DSHK, the L.E.A.D. Support Services is a cornerstone of our commitment to whole-child education. Designed to intentionally support social-emotional development, executive functioning, and academic growth, L.E.A.D. empowers students with the foundational skills they need to thrive.

Through a series of enriching dog therapy sessions within our L.E.A.D. Support Services, students demonstrated meaningful progress in areas that directly impact classroom success. Beyond building confidence and emotional awareness, they strengthened focus, listening skills, task completion, and the ability to follow directions with greater independence.

In a structured, supportive environment, students practiced patience, self-regulation, and sustained attention, skills that translate into stronger academic engagement and resilience when facing challenges.

The transformation was clear. Students approached new experiences with calm bodies and confident minds. Peer connections deepened. Independence grew. Academic readiness strengthened.

The L.E.A.D. Support Services reflects who we are at DSHK: intentional, research-informed, and dedicated to developing capable, confident learners.

We are proud of our students and proud of a program that nurtures growth academically, socially, and emotionally. 🐶💛

What kind of future are we preparing our children for? 🌍✨

At Dalton School Hong Kong, we believe education should do more than prepare students for exams.
It should prepare them for life.

That’s why DSHK offers a learning experience that is deeply inquiry-based, bilingual, and student-centered — where children are encouraged to think independently, ask meaningful questions, collaborate with others, and discover who they are beyond academics.

Rooted in the world-renowned Dalton Plan, our students are not simply taught what to think — they learn how to think. 💡

At DSHK, students:
🌱 Learn through exploration, projects, and real-world experiences
🌏 Thrive in a bilingual English-Mandarin environment
🧠 Develop critical thinking, creativity, and confidence
🤝 Build independence, responsibility, and collaboration skills
🎨 Experience a balance of academics, arts, innovation, leadership, and wellbeing
✨ Grow into self-directed learners ready for an ever-changing world

From hands-on projects and inquiry-driven classrooms to a vibrant international community, DSHK nurtures curious minds and compassionate leaders who are empowered to lead with purpose.

Every child deserves an education that sees them not just as students — but as thinkers, creators, innovators, and future changemakers. 💙

What happens when learning moves beyond the classroom? 🇨🇳✨

Our recent Middle School journey to Sichuan was more than just a trip. It was an immersive experience filled with cultural discovery, project-based learning, personal growth, and unforgettable moments of connection.

From exploring Chengdu’s People’s Park and learning about Sichuan food culture 🌶️, to studying ancient irrigation systems, debating conservation at the Wolong Panda Base 🐼, and connecting with the Xiang ethnic minority community — students were constantly challenged to step outside their comfort zones and engage with the world in meaningful ways.

Over the course of the week, we watched students grow in confidence, independence, empathy, and curiosity. What began as a learning journey became a powerful experience of reflection, friendship, and discovery.

One month later, the memories — and the lessons — still resonate deeply within our community 💙
