It was the year of the ‘Angry Young Women’ Film and Media Awards, with three of the big winners on the night showcasing a female meltdown sequence! Take what you will from that. Girls scooped Best Film, Best Editor, Best Director, Best Performance and Best Sound Designer.

The pay off for us as a department was enormous. Now in Year 12, this was the first cohort to complete our Y9 Media and the AFP Media course, a replacement for the old and rather tired GCSE Media Studies qualification.

As ever, thank you to our perennial VIP, Jennifer Deayton as as well as my very special team of Larisa Curran, Sally Stanton and of course, Abby Wan.

I'm usually unflappable on such occasions but felt genuine emotion after seeing so many of my former students sat in the front row preparing to present awards. A very special moment.
