Background story for Spring Charitable Foundation (Chi/Eng):
這是一個結緣的故事
世界上,沒有無緣無故的相遇。
梁太跟外子到韶關旅遊,在山區的一處,找得一間當地的小菜館,坐下後,有一位看上去只像十三歲的小姑娘過來招呼,梁太直覺就是有點心酸,年紀這樣輕的小姑娘,為何會待在這偏遠山中的小菜館,幹着這種工作,作為一位慈母,她𢭃問了小姑娘,這樣年紀,為何還不上學去;小姑娘聽得這刺中心底要害的一問,登時禁不住哽咽起來,久久不能說話;
旁邊的侍應看在眼裏,走過來把小姑娘的身世托出,原來小姑娘本是韶關醫院醫學院的學生,因她是山區人士,家中都沒餘錢,還未完成課程,便得輟學,說到這裏時,小姑娘更是淚如雨下;
梁太於是向她求証, 她點了點頭,梁太即時跟她外子商量了一下, 就作了這樣的決定,她再三問過小姑娘,是否真的很想回去讀書,小姑娘很肯定答說是了,梁太於是請她寫下學校的聯絡等等,回去後,便向那小姑娘的學校班主任了解事情的屬實性,確認了這實在是個貧學生的悲涼故事;梁太於是決定為這小姑娘做一點事,把學費直接轉入學校,再給小姑娘撥了電話,請她回校讀書了;
接過電話後,小姑娘實在沒法想信,這像夢幻的電話會是真的,而她所有的家人,也認定這是一個目標不明的騙局,在他們的生命見識裏,天下間沒可能有這樣的一個陌生人,一面之緣後便送一個小女孩一筆為數不少的錢, 唯當舊班主任親自給她電話,着她要回到學校,她才相信這一切都是真的,在驚喜莫名的心情下,小姑娘重捨心情與希望,回到學校上課了,她這時還未知道,這一切,只是結緣的開始;
梁太經過這次安排,跟那年輕而又充滿愛心的老師熟絡了, 了解得許多學生都來自山區,要算拿得起學費,那也是家人艱辛籌得來的,有許多學生,只能在家能享用自耕自足的食物,可是,到了學院,便沒法再張羅吃的費用,梁太想了個點子,做了一份簡單的統計調查,發現有許多學生,未能負擔得起正常的均衡飲食,有些甚至一天只能吃一餐,那情況實在讓人心酸;
梁太認為這事情實在刻不容緩了,立刻向幾位好友商議籌募,人間有情,在短短一個月, 已經籌得為八百多名學生,提供每人每年六百塊人民幣的膳食補助,在學校的大力配合下,開展了這膳食補助計劃;
梁太為了確保所有善長的一分一豪,都能直接到達學生的手上,在過往一年,無數次跑到韶關,跟學生保持良好的溝通,而學生自制的温情心意卡,温馨感人的會面,便成了每次探望的推動力;
This is a story of an encounter that led to an everlasting experience.
One day while Mrs. Leung was traveling with her husband in the outskirts of China, she stopped by a mountainside tavern for lunch. When a young girl that looked as if she was just ten years old came to take her order, Mrs. Leung felt heartbroken to see such a young girl working as a waitress. As a sincere mother, she asked the girl why she was working here instead of going to school. Choking back tears, the girl could not find words to respond to Mrs. Leung’s question.
An acquaintance of the girl explained to Mrs. Leung the girl’s situation. Mrs. Leung learned that the little girl was actually fourteen years old but petite for her age, and was an aspiring medical student at Shaoguan Medical College Hospital. Unfortunately, because she and her family lived in the mountainside they were very poor and the little girl had to drop out of school before completing her studies.
After verifying the story with the girl, Mrs. Leung asked the girl repeatedly if she would like to return to school, and the girl replied she was very sure. Mrs. Leung asked the girl to write down her school name and contact information, and upon returning home Mrs. Leung contacted the school’s headmaster who confirmed the girl’s unfortunate situation. Mrs. Leung felt grief-stricken and decided to do something for the girl. She wired the tuition fee to the school on behalf of the girl before ringing her up and told her to return to school.
At first, the girl did not believe her luck for she believed this was a scam and nobody could do such nice things for a stranger. It wasn’t until the headmaster personally asked the girl to return back to school did she believe her luck. With faith, the girl set out back to school. Little did she know this would only the beginning of her encounter with the kind stranger.
After this arrangement, Mrs. Leung continued to learn from the caring headmaster that many other students share this unfortunate background with the girl. They too came from the countryside and their families cannot afford to send their kids to medical school. In addition, since most of them are self-sufficient farmers, they cannot afford to fund the student’s meals at school. This broke Mrs. Leung’s heart and she realized the urgency of this situation. She decided to take matters into her own hands and immediately worked with friends and sponsors to collect enough funds to provide a meal subsidy program for over eight hundred students, worth six hundred RMB per year per student.
To ensure the donations are used properly, Mrs. Leung travels numerous times a year to the school in Shaoguan to maintain good communication with the students. Her dedication towards the betterment of the lives of these students is shown through her warm interactions with them.
