Global Youth Leaders Summit 2017

The Summit is a ground-breaking student leader international conference, bringing together student leaders worldwide to debate and discuss how our young leaders, inspired by the spirit of social entrepreneurship, can make a difference in the world. The diversity of student presenters from 22 universities in 13 countries made the event truly mind-opening for all student leaders with exciting ideas and projects of community engagement for addressing some of the world’s grand challenges. It also featured a keynote speech by Professor Hau Lee, The Thoma Professor of Operations, Information and Technology, Graduate School of Business, Stanford University. The event covered 350 audience on 28 June 2017.

China-Japan-Korea SERVE Initiative 2017 09/10/2017

The first cross-bordered collaborative China-Japan-Korea SERVE Initiative has completed in Japan. This Initiative has brought together 56 students from the four universities – PolyU, Peking University, Kyoto University, and Ewha Womans University – to Kyoto. They visited the earthquake museum and local districts in Kobe to learn about the Japanese’s persistence and modesty in living with the nature. Divided into five service groups, they had a glance on the active ageing situation in both cities and rural areas. Together with the local elderlies and organisations, they proposed and co-created events, workshops, and public engagement in Kyoto. Their fruitful experiences were showcased and presented in the form of an exhibition in Kyoto University. Also, it is indispensable to mention that these students from Japan, Korea, and China have brought home with them a once-in-a-lifetime memory and friendship. This Initiative is the pilot student programme under the context of the University Social Responsibility Network (USRN) to well articulate its vision and mission and have a well thought-out roadmap to guide its future development.
