It is with deep sadness that the Department of Philosophy announces the passing of Professor F. C. T. Moore, Emeritus Professor of the Department at The University of Hong Kong. Professor Moore received his DPhil from St Antony's College, Oxford. He joined the HKU Philosophy Department in 1979 as its first Chair of Philosophy and served as Head of Department for many years, contributing significantly to the scholarly life of the University through his teaching, research, and leadership. His publications ranged across the philosophy of language, moral philosophy, the history of philosophy, and French philosophy, among other areas, and he was also a pioneer in the use of computers in the teaching of logic. Professor Moore will be remembered with great affection and respect by all who had the privilege of working and studying with him. The Department extends its heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and former students at this difficult time.
