小朋友學習拼音初期，常會混淆the的發音。最初時不需太嚴格即時暫停並糾正發音️，重點可先放在讓他們認得 "the" 這個字。

當後面的單字是以母音（Vowel, 即 a, e, i, o, u）開頭時，the 就會讀成 /ðiː/ (Thee)。
例如：the apple, the egg, the ice, the orange。
