𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝘁𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗶𝘀𝗻'𝘁 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. 𝗜𝘁'𝘀 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁'𝘀 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲.

New research co-authored by Prof. Allen HUANG and Prof. Tony CHO, together with Prof. Joseph PACELLI (Harvard Business School) and Kristi RENNEKAMP (Cornell University), suggests that AI-generated summaries do more than save time. They help people learn more.

Studying the use of AI-generated summaries in 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘞𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘚𝘵𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘵 𝘑𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘯𝘢𝘭 articles, the researchers found that readers understood complex information more effectively and that markets responded more quickly to new information. Rather than serving as the shortcut many assume them to be, AI summaries appeared to encourage readers to seek out additional information and dig deeper, not stop sooner.

In an age of information overload, perhaps the value of AI isn't replacing deep reading or helping us read less. It’s helping us know where to begin and focus our attention.

Bringing together regulators, industry leaders, academics, and technology experts, the event explored the opportunities and challenges that quantum technologies present for the future of finance.

In his keynote address, Prof. Anseel highlighted the critical role of leadership, governance, and organizational readiness in helping financial institutions prepare for the quantum transition. Prof. Allen Huang also joined an industry panel on quantum computing use cases, sharing perspectives on how emerging quantum capabilities can be translated into practical applications for the financial sector.

Beyond the event, HKUST Business School is proud to lead the development of the 𝗣𝗼𝘀𝘁-𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘂𝗺 𝗖𝗿𝘆𝗽𝘁𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗽𝗵𝘆 (𝗣𝗤𝗖) 𝗧𝗼𝗼𝗹𝗸𝗶𝘁 in collaboration with the HKMA. Designed as a practical reference for banks, the toolkit will help financial institutions identify priorities for their transition planning and build the cryptographic agility needed for a quantum-safe future.

By combining deep expertise in cybersecurity with insights from finance, economics, and technology adoption, the School is helping bridge the gap between cryptographic innovation and business adoption—strengthening the resilience and future readiness of Hong Kong’s financial ecosystem.

The School was delighted to reconnect with our alumni in Stockholm, where Prof. Veronique A. LAFON-VINAIS from the Department of Finance represented the School and shared her insights with alumni. A special thank you goes to our WBB alumna Ebba AF KLERCKER for serving as our City Anchor and helping bring the local community together.

The journey continued in Beijing during Dean Frederik ANSEEL’s first visit to the city as Dean. The gathering was filled with meaningful conversations, renewed friendships, and exciting updates on the School's latest developments.
