We’re proud to celebrate our HKU Part‑Time MBA students Kris Wong, ACCA, CESGA, Shelene Wong, Emily Cheuk, and Spencer Chan, who represented the HKU MBA at the INNOVATEChina 2026 and captured the Silver Award at the Grand Finale in Shanghai.

The competition brought together 219 participants from 66 teams across 32 countries and regions, as well as over 40 leading schools, with only eight teams advancing to the final round.

Team HKU MBA impressed the judges with their ESG‑driven innovation, GreenStar NEXUS, which introduces two groundbreaking solutions:

1️⃣Tires‑as‑a‑Service: A subscription model where fleets operators pay per kilometre, converting tyre expenses into predictable operating costs and delivering a significantly lower total cost of ownership.

2️⃣ESG Credential Innovation: The Michelin Green Star Passport Scheme, which transforms tyre and telematics data into auditable ESG scores, unlocking access to green financing and sustainability‑linked business opportunities.

🌱Together, these innovations redefine tyres from a one‑off product into a service plus ESG credential, enabling fleets to cut costs, demonstrate sustainability, and unlock new growth pathways within the evolving mobility ecosystem — all while meeting the global demand for stronger ESG performance.

🌕𝐃𝐀𝐘 1 | We officially kicked off the New York and Boston delegation with two parallel groups of HKU MBA students, beginning their journey in the heart of New York City. The first day set the tone for an inspiring week — starting with an opening lecture on America, followed by a walking tour through New York’s iconic landmarks, and capped with a welcome dinner at Victor’s Café that brought both groups together. 🏙️🍽️

🗺️𝐃𝐀𝐘 2| Students took learning one step further with hands‑on 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐩𝐬, conducted in parallel by 𝐓𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐫 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐲 and 𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐒𝐡𝐢𝐫. These sessions explored how emerging technologies are reshaping the healthcare industry, equipping students with practical tools to address real‑world challenges through product‑thinking frameworks. 💡

In the afternoon, our groups took part in company visits with 𝐀𝐩𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐨 𝐆𝐥𝐨𝐛𝐚𝐥 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭, 𝐈𝐧𝐜. and 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐦8. These sessions offered first‑hand exposure to leading organisations across investment, technology, and venture‑building sectors — strengthening our students’ understanding of how innovation, finance, and entrepreneurship intersect. 🏢📈

To conclude an energetic day, participants came together at 𝐒𝐔𝐌𝐌𝐈𝐓 𝐎𝐧𝐞 𝐕𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐭, taking in panoramic views of the city and reflecting on the insights gained throughout their international field project. 🌆
