🎨 Taking our canvas outdoors under the sunshine! ☀️🌿

Who says art has to stay inside four walls? Today, our K1 little artists turned the playground into their very own open-air art studio! 🖌️✨

Combining nature, movement, and vibrant colors, the children had an absolute blast exploring creativity in the fresh air!

Here’s what made our outdoor art session so magical:

🌿 Big Art on a Big Scale

Unconstrained by small paper sheets, our K1 learners practiced large, sweeping arm movements as they painted on huge outdoor setups!

🎨 Sensory Exploration

The kids felt the textures of paint, brushes, and natural playground elements, immersing their senses in color and light! 🌸

🤝 Collaborative Playground Creation

Standing side-by-side on the playground, friends worked together, sharing paint pots, laughing, and building teamwork skills outdoors.

We had a sweet and brave week in Pre-Nursery. For some of our little ones, this is their very first time at school, and we are so proud of how they are slowly settling in and learning our classroom routine. 🌟

This week, the children enjoyed our sensory station, where they cared for the baby dolls by giving them baths and pretending to wash them after play. 🛁

During circle time, we danced to our favourite songs, used shakers, and read Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? by Bill Martin Jr. and Eric Carle. 📚 We talked about what we could see in the story and in our classroom, noticing our teachers, friends, and the baby dolls.

Thank you, parents, for your support as the children continue to grow more confident each day. 💛

🎒 It all started with finding their own names... 💕✨

The first chime of the new school year has sounded! Over four short days, so many precious seeds of confidence, curiosity, and friendship were planted in our children's hearts. 🌱

Here is a peak into our magical first week:

🪪 Belonging & Routines

We kicked off by finding our own Chinese name cards on the cubbies—suddenly, the new environment felt like home! We also established our classroom promises to ensure our space remains safe, kind, and respectful.

📖 Chinese Literacy & Oracle Characters

We discovered the ancient origins of Chinese characters "月" (Moon) and "日" (Sun)! We also opened our first Greenfields book, The First, where children narrated picture stories using their own words—discovering what "first" meant to them!

🔢 Math in Real Life: Shapes Everywhere!

Shapes are all around us! The kids searched the room, spotting windows, doors, desks, and carpets. Using blocks, they felt and compared the subtle differences between a square (four equal sides) and a rectangle (two longer sides).

🎵 Music & Movement

We learned to feel fast and slow rhythms with our bodies—fast like a gusty wind, and slow like a gentle breeze! We also sang our new cheerful song, "Hello Mr. Sun" (你好太陽公公), going from quiet hums to a joyful full-class chorus! ☀️

Welcome to our afternoon roundup! The classroom was glowing with creativity and joy as our fantastic afternoon group dived into a splendid week of stories, science and art! ✨

📖 Storytime Magic
We cuddled up for the charming tale of Owl Babies by Martin Waddell and Patrick Benson 🌳. The story follows three little owls, Sarah, Percy and Bill, who wake up to find their mother gone, only to celebrate with joy when she safely returns! The children connected deeply with the little owls, sharing how they feel when waiting for loved ones and cheering happily when the mother owl returned 🤍.

🧪 Crafting Clay Owls
Our little scientists created their own air-dry clay using a mixture of cornstarch, baking soda and water! 🥣 Once ready, they sculpted their very own adorable owl babies 🦉. They then gathered dried grass and shaped cozy nests using clay to keep their feathered creations safe and warm!

🎨 Splatters of Creativity
Imaginations soared as we whipped up colourful, puffy paint using flour, water, dish soap, and washable paints in shades of blue, red, green, and orange 🌈! The children had an absolute blast squeezing the bottles and painting freely on the floor, creating bold and wonderful masterpieces 🖌️!

Our classroom was buzzing with laughter and discovery as our bright morning group jumped into a brilliant week of learning and play! ✨🦔

🖐️ Fine Motor Skill Work
Our little learners built up their finger strength through fantastic hands-on play! The children exercised their hand muscles using eyedroppers to fill popping toys 🧪 and stretched elastic bands around bottles to build independence for putting on socks 🧦. Free scribbling was a huge hit, but the main highlight was our magic water paper 🎨. The instant water brushed the sheet, vibrant colours appeared! Everyone adored stamping and creating colourful marks ✨.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Exploring Family Connections
During our reading and discovery sessions, we discussed the wonderful topic of families! 🏠 We explored different relatives and learned that while some classmates have brothers or sisters, others are an only child. Singing The Finger Family 🎶 and Baby Shark 🦈 had everyone bouncing with energy and singing along enthusiastically!

🔢 Counting and Sorting Fun In maths,
We reviewed numbers one to five with an exciting treasure hunt 🔍! The children searched the room to gather the exact quantity of objects called out, racing about with gigantic smiles as they collected their items 🧸!
